schulz for a draft pick?

Things are starting to turn to shit, I can just see us get no ruckman, end up with soft flankers like McMahon and trade away talls. Pretty much the dead opposite of what we really need.

Agree. People on here look at the short term or the potential of the player or whatever.

With all the rumours going around, none are any good. :thumbsd:

Schulz will be a good player at Port. No doubt. He'll have the delivery, the coach, the lifestyle. Everything will be going his way.

We have done this so many times already. There were quite a few games Richo was injured and Schulz delivered his usual 'nothing' performances.

Maybe it does take someone who is uphimself. He is not that...so move him on! Jack seems to be who we need there though:thumbsu:
richo played every game this year;)

I would be Okay with that. But it better not be Ports second round pick because there is practicly nothing in the draft in the mid 20's onwards and I think Schulz has the potential to do a Rodan on us.
:confused:pick 16 is not ports second round pick in the mid 20`s. And Rodan didnt fire a shot on the biggest day of the footy year, so who cares about him.

AW lied!!

Port stated they won't be trading their first rounder.

U have gotten our 3rd rounder for Schultz.

That would be more likely.
As much I would love 16, realistically he is worth a 3rd round at the moment unfortunately. Don't think you will be getting this one for free! Hopefully we can ontrade it as part of a package.

Has anyone else noticed that Jay Schulz kicks 2 goals evey game? I have, it's guaranteed. I'm willing to give him another year or 2, especially if all we're getting is a third rounder.

I haven't

If we get either their second round pick, or their first I say we trade him, otherwise no dice. We will keep him until next year and then maybe trade him for a 3rd round pick then if he doesn't improve in a deeper draft

pretty stupid to trade him for a draft pick is which dont have too many top rated players. miller you are a genius.!! cant believe we keep jack the hack and cleve!!

If Schulz has one more ordinary year he has no trade currency. Getting a second round pick is essentially trading a player with some potential that is not working out for us, for a more unkown player with a bigger risk/reward but less current known limitations.

As for Jack the hack...I presume your talking about Jack Riewoldt. He is two more preseasons away from being a very very good player.

Clever Cleve is not going to have much currency either as he shows so little emotion and his efforts look weak. He probably doesn't feel they are....perhaps his best isn't good enough.

Drafting the 'next best bigs'' (ie bigs in the 9-15 kind of range has not worked out well for the tiges....

Schulz is contracted, and Miller said we would only trade him for the right price. How can pick 33 possibly be the right price? We lose a KPP, and it becomes an even bigger gapping whole in our list.

You'd think this trade would depend largely on whether or not he asked to be traded when the club sat him down for a chat this week.

I still think he has enormous potential and will become a good forward, but if he did ask to be floated, seeya later.

He's worth a late 1st round early 2nd round pick in this draft, but we won't get it.

I know it doesn't mean much, but just to show I'm right -

2006 - Schulz came into the side in round 13, kicked 2. Kicked 1 in round 14. Round 15, kicked 2. Round 16, kicked 2. Round 17, kicked 2. Round 18, kicked 2. Round 19, kicked 1. Round 20, kicked 2. Round 21, kicked 1.

2007 - Round 1, kicked 2. Round 2, kicked 2. Round 3, kicked 3. Round 4, kicked 2. Was injured after Geelong game but came back and in round 7, he kicked 2. Admittidly he struggled to break back into the team before kicking 2 again in round 15, but was then dropped again.

Again, doesn't mean a whole lot but just showing you it's not my imagination, and that if he works hard enough and gets a regular gig, he can be very consistant and could net us 40-50 goals a year.

if its for a 3rd rounder we have officially lost the plot:thumbsd:

RW was spot on, hes worth a late first rounder or early 2nd rounder, anything less and we are getting pwn3d!!1

this was his make or break year,

Funny...I was sure he spent the end of the year playing in the 2's..Your right I have no idea...he has really stepped up. Oh..hang on, it's Richo's fault.

Or are you playing being part of the trading team and spruiking him up for the Power. 'Yeah guys, we know he can't get a kick with gun forwards around, but when they aren't in the team, he'll kick a goal or two. But he'll need it lace out because he doesn't get his own ball very well'.

EDIT: but thinking about it...Port did that with Westoff pretty well...so he may do better down there..Arrrgh!! Schulz is definately worth a 1st rounder ;)

i would rather keep schulz then take a second rounder.

ecspecially port's.

16 for schultz is about right as he is young and although he hasnt set the afl world on fire, he has shown glimpses and has the potential to come good.

i know alot of players have potential but this guy can take a big mark, is a good size and is a pretty decent kick.

give him one more season and more regular games and see how he develops.

he kicks 10 goals in 5 games or so and then gets dropped.

he thenk kicks four or 5 comes back into the team were he kicks 1 or 2 and then gets dropped again.

i know we need to try others but chopping and changing a tall foward from week to week is not doing him any good.

if he could keep his 2 goal a game average for the whole season next year, 44 goals would be very acceptable.

then he can improve on that each year, asweel as his defensive foward pressure.
