He's shown some awesome signs, surely he'd still be worth a first round pick - especially if at least 3 clubs are apparently sniffing.

Also hearing Schulz talk about the club he sounds like he's a Richmond man and really wants to give the tiger army something to cheer about. I'd only see him wanting to leave the club if it became apparent Richo was going to play for like another 4 years and he wanted space (similar to why Troy Simmonds left Melbourne when Jeff White was #1).

Lets wait until Schulz has returned from exile and see how commited he is to the cause .

He has put in a few great games and a fair few reasonable ones, but is way to inconsistant.

Bowden lifted a few notches after he was dropped, so Schulz must know he is on notice.

If he returnes and shows similar form like the majority of the year so far, then he has to be traded. He has had to many years to step up and hasnt. No one will give a first pick for him, thats dreamtime stuff.

I hope he comes back and kicks ass. A great pair of hands and great kick. If only he can get some urgency into his game

He needs a work ethic, laziest player on our list, he has the tools to be a great FF, just doesn't work hard enough pretty well sums him up for me

Same applies to Cleve. If we traded Schulz and Kingsley doesn't get another contract then it allows Cleve to go half paced too... we've got to keep competition strong at the least (Riewoldt helps in this area).

i think Polak is a CHB first for us with the ability to move forward when we need the advantage in a close game - a adam hunter type player

Imagine the list below in 3 years

B:Raines Roe(or drafted FB) Thursty
HB: JON Polak Newman
C: Tamblin Foley Edwards
Hf: Pettifer Reiwoldt Meyer
F: Simmonds Hughes N.Brown (hopefully)
Ruck: Woods Deledio Polo
Int: Pattison Connors J.Bowen , tuck , johnson, mcguane, coughlan, hyde

All players in bold i strongly doubt wont be with us within 3 years time.

shultz is by far the best prospect for for key forward, he has had some good games and bad, so he is just finding his feet. hughes is developing as a chf and riewoldt has a long way to go.

schulz was pathetic for coburg on friday. hughes was captain. i think the coach has had his patience tested enough with schulz. has been on the list for 3 years and done squat. time to go.

Im starting to think that Jay is trying to hard to prove himself to the tiger faithful. He keeps trying to beat defenders one on one. When he leads he looks really good. That's what he did in the first quarter against west coast and he comprehensively beat glass. He lost a lot of confidence in himself when he kept missing.

Has plenty of talent just needs to regain some confidence.

schulz for Meesen - say it again.

patto can play third tall forward, back up ruckman, - simmo ruck , and resting forward - meesen ruck.

im beginning to think there will be a tasty trade on the table for sarge as mentioned earlier if it means we dont need to go for a tall with our valuable first r pick and secure that gun midfielder i reckon it would be a giant step forward

NO WAY.

This thread is horrorfying!!!!!!

You can't rip out players like Schulz - his heart is with the yellow and black. How many times have you heard him say "I really want to repay the fans for their persistence with me, I just love Tigerland and I'm dying to get out there to show what I can do and repay the loyal fans"

That is the stupidest argument I've ever heard for keeping a player.
Cause his heart is Yellow & Black?
So should we keep average footballers cause they love the club?
(Ever been in business Benny?)
The RFC isn't a charity organisation.
Schulz likes us, like a naughty schoolboy has a favourite teacher.
Why? Cause he can get away with murder, (and get a game) at our club.
That's why he loves us. Cause we tolerant his average performances.

deliberate!!

Jay Schulz will be a superstar and trading him is like trading Deledio.
BS.....You never will be able to compare Schulz to Deledio.
Don't even try.

We can not trade our own, especially those who care about the club and have been through a lot with us.
We can trade anyone we want, at anytime, that doesn't serve our purpose.
Our purpose is a FLAG.

You say you want a RELIABLE foward well Schulz is more reliable than Matthew Lloyd!!!
Last year he kicked 16.3 in 10 matches and he has a career accuracy higher than Lloyd, Fevola, Williams and every other "reliable" forward.

Jay Schulz - verge of becoming a superstar.
Who says so? You.....we are still waiting for the Superstar bit.

A home-grown RICHMOND star. Plus he is one of the few capable of showing aggression on the field, can split packs, rough 'em up and eat 'em alive!!
Agression???? Ha.....watch him when he doesn't get the ball. Why? Cause he gets pushed OFF the ball. He gets swatted like a fly when he can't run cleanly at the ball.

Come off it Benny.

You know one day a whole heap of our young players are going to become greats and everyone who constantly bags them, writes them off and calls them 'duds' can simply turn around and go 'I'm glad to be proved wrong'.

It's crap! :p You always get to win!

You can't just bag every single player and then when they come good just be happy. That way you are always right and never subject yourself to being critisised - ever.

I said Polak would be one of the best pickups in a long time right right when we got him. I spent hours analysing his game and everything pointed to him being a star.

How did people respond?! Take a guess

It's so easy and cowardly to constantly attack players, grow some balls and make an actual opinion that might one day make you look stupid (that doesn't involve them going on to become stars, can't have and eat the same cake!). I've backed Tambling for ages and after a couple of rounds when Buddy was on fire everyone was calling him a dud too! Some fans stuck their neck out and got bagged of course but now the same negative "supporters" are happy with him after a few bursts of brilliance this year.

It's so weak to sit back and bag every player and bag everyone who doesn't bag them with you. Schulz will be a good player, I stick to my judgement, just like I'm sticking to my judgement that Polak and Tambling will be great players.

I don't see why I bother. I'll get bagged to death now, then if he comes good it doesn't make a difference  As I have said before, I only really defend a select group of players, I don't just blindly think everyone will turn out great - that isn't how it works! However Schulz is one of the few where I've seen a few things that give me confidence.

Polak turned out great. I believe Schulz will too. Shoot me... again.
