Schulz

You're not going to turn around a player who has been coasting for 7 years no matter how good a coach you are.

There's no deals for Shultz out there so he is going to see out his contract at Coburg. If he strings some games together he may get selected on form. But the odds are stacked well against him being an AFL player.

If you look at his stats for 2008 he looked like taking the next step............ what happened in 2009?? Wallace and Co have destroyed and stunted so many players by turning them into hole fillers, it's time he played in a set position and developed his game.

need a good preseason if he stays and needs to play his arse off
won't get anything for him in a trade so play him. i rate him still has a good leg and good hands doesn't work hard enough that said wallace you a dick can't expect a player to 1 week plat forward then get drop for 3 then come back play back for 1 week then dropped
never had a good run with tigers

hardwick will work his arse off he just might surpise (or hoping) that or be a good FF in the 2nds

It seems he'll be safe for another year. Do you think he has anything to offer the club? I thought he was definately gone, but unless Hardwick has organised a surprise trade, Schulz must be in his plans. He obviously doesn't work hard enough to become the player we thought 3-4 years ago. Maybe Hardwick thinks he may take Schulz to the next level with tougher training. I'd like to think Schulz and Polak will play 2010 to save their careers. Both most likely filling the positions of FB and FF. I'd prefer to give Polak a year if we had to choose between the 2. Btw, is Mcmahon being traded or what? I don't want him on the list next year. I don't want to see soft, careless players running around in our 22 anymore
Has ZERO to offer us.

Well don't look at the stats, look at the actual games. Loose men in defence aren't exactly hot commodities in football circles.

A bit of sense in here. :D

I'm sure you did check it with a mate, 'pal'. ;):D I bet no one else could stuffed going and actually checking themselves. I will check for you, only takes a while. By the way, before I start...I'm not even set on Schulz one way or another. It doesn't bother me if he's kept for the last season of his contract and it doesn't bother me if he's traded.

2003: Schulz played two minutes (if you don't believe that either, then look it up or watch the game) in his first ever game, the following week he was omitted. Schulz returned in Rnd17, playing the next two matches after that before being an omission going into rnd 20. He returned to the team Rnd 22. So, that's twice in his first ever season. Was he underperforming or was he a young kid (17 going on 18) getting games put into him for the future?

2004: Schulz went out of the team 3 times in 2004. He played 16 games for the season, not bad for 18 going on 19. IIRC, he got injured against Geelong in round four, missing a week before coming back up. That's 5 omissions in two seasons, one most likely injury related.

2005: Schulz broke his ankle in the preseason, he came back off injury in Rnd 9 and 10 before re injurying the same ankle. ONE injury related omission, he made his way back into the side for the last two games. That's now 6 omissions in three years, two because of injury

2006: Jay played the first two games but injured his shoulder in Rnd 2 against St Kilda by a tackle from Aaron Hamil. Another injury related omission. He came off injury in Rnd 13 and played the rest of the season. One omission in 2006 and it was because of injury, taking his total up to 7, three because of injury.

2007: Started off well, kicking two or more goals in each of the first four games. Was dropped after round 8. Came back in Rnd 10 before being dropped once again (I remember a few Tiger fans being annoyed about the change). He came back at Rnd 15 and played a few matches before being omitted again. He came back into the squad for the match where we beat Essendon in Hirds last match. So an inconsistent year where he was good in some games and quiet in others. Total up to 10 after five seasons, three because of injury.

2008: Schulz started off well again (lead our best & fairest after the first few rounds) but got dropped after Rnd 7 when he played poorly against St Kilda. Unlucky, IMO. Came back after one week and played the next month before going out once again. He came back in a few weeks later and played the season out, bar one match where he went out due to the weather conditions and was replaced by Morton. 18 games for the season. So, we're up to 13 omissions (the number of times you said he was dropped going into this season). But, after researching it I can say one time was for weather reasons in Adelaide and three were down to injury. Taking the total of times dropped to 9, 4 of those being in his first two seasons. Including this season he's been dropped 11 times for poor form in his career. Sure, that's a fair bit but it's not as many as you said.

Build the brick 'pal'. Build the bricks.:D:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Great little propaganda piece. You're his Mum, right?
Sounds like it's coming from the club.....is it 'newb'?

Gee, you know a lot about the games and they way you pad them out is beautiful, subjective, and the work of an apologist for Schulz.

After all that blah, blah, blah.....you came up with 11.

Fool !!

11 times(even though that is your distortion) what's that say about a player?
*think music*

And you say, "where he went out due to the weather conditions and was replaced by Morton".....oh pleeeeease...give it a rest.

How many half decent players go out of a team because of the weather???
Must be a good player?......and a valuable one.
Dropped 11 times by you, 13 by me.
Splitting hairs won't save him.

An Omission is an Omission, however you sugar coat it.
Going on 8 years as an AFL footballer!

Poor Schulz. :thumbsd:
Poor JS Newb flying the flag. :thumbsd:

Are people really trying to defend him here? Has had more than enough chances... he should have been delisted years ago when he got done drink driving...

I dunno...causing the words "bloody idiot" to be removed from our jumper was probably one of the few good things he has done....:o

Yep, 11. Four of them in the last two seasons. As for the weather thing, he went out on the Sunday because we needed to go smaller on the day due to the conditions.;) You made it sound like he's been dropped more times than you were on your head as a child. It is clear that you made up something and expected no one to call you on it. Get over it.

If you think I am some big Schulz fan, then read what I wrote in the first para of the other post.

Here, Here!!

Cannot believe he is still on the list.
Cannot believe he was signed for 2 years.
Cannot believe he was not traded or delisted 4,3,2,1 years ago.
Must be the luckiest bloke in the AFL to still be on a list - but will be a big loss to Coburg when he goes.

Just doesn't get enough of it..

If you want to split hairs as you like doing, Schulz was never 17 when he played his first Senior Home and Away game for Richmond.
He was an Adult = 18.
Don't try and turn him into some sort of hard-done-by child prodigy (young kid).

Dropped because of the weather and being a kid?....wtf?......keep em coming Mrs.Schulz!!

Here's hoping this 'newb' heads interstate with Schulz. :thumbsu:
