Just heard your CEO on radio saying that he was fully behind CC and expected him to serve out his contract until the end of 2007.

Wouldn't have expected him to say anything else of course.

He also said something to the effect that all teams faced ups and downs and that if people had difficulties with that then perhaps they should follow a sport other than football.

If I was a Dockers fan I might have taken offence at that.

The news report on ABC also suggested that there were senior members of the playing group that were said to be dissatisifed with the current coaching regime.

Stating the obvious of course.

I didn't but some might.

Larcom last year, coaching regime this year , I said last year that He should have got rid of any troblemakers no matter who they were as otherwise we will end up like the Saints (if we havn't already) where the players sack the coach all the time.

Alves , Blight , both sacked by the Senior players.

The up side is you're a long way short of Richmond who invented the game of "Lynch the Coach".

Rip I agree with you in principle but doesn't it rely somehwat on who the "troublemakers" are and how many of them there might be?

In a hypothetical situation, if a team's senior playing group decided that the coach wasn't up to it, then don't you have to consider the pros and cons of the argument before you considered getting rid of players?

Up to a point, but it appears that this is the second year in a row that that they appear to be ducking for cover.

Should they be allowed to "go on strike" on the field because they havn't got things their own way?

Some are trying their guts out and others are not, Game plans basically have nothing to do with that.

It is easier to replace the coach than multiple players without doubt.
Problem solvered for a little while until the player group get put out next time.

I was in a team once. Mid-season we were beaten by the bottom team. The senior players gathered around and we decided to sack the coach. The new guy taught us more about football in 1/2 a season than we'd ever learnt in our lives, and we won the premiership defeating the side that had been undefeated in three seasons.

It was not in the AFL. You might have guessed that.

In my rant on the other thread, I certainly was not advocating sacking the coach, the CEO, the board, staging a coup or anything of the sort. Just that things need to change and that the Freo Spirit somehow needs to be instilled into this club for us to move forward.
Senior players trying to hold the club over a barrel (if that is true) is not exactly engendering the spirit we should be after.

Was anyone else unfortunate enough to hear the interview between Hardie, Satler and Schwabby on PR? It deteriorated into them talking over schwabby whenever he tried to say anything, not much came out of it as he was ultra defensive, Hardie had his axe to grind and Satler wasn't there yesterday but reckoned he knew it all.

I'm not impressed at what is happening at the moment and something needs to change but we need to be careful not to let PR and its cronies get their way or the angst will engulf the entire club.

Only because Freo are newcomers to the AFL. Most of their problems stem from recruiting a proven failure in Schwab and an unproven coach in Connolly. Extending CC's contract must rank among the most stupid decisions of all time.

For Fremantle to realise their true potential in the AFL both Schwab and Connolly must be drop-punted and the sooner it happens the better. It will be a costly exercise but not as much as the cost of repairing the longer term damage of keeping them on.

My bet is neither will be there in 2006.

No guts, no glory.

If you listen to 6PR and the idiots that they employ you should be certified.

I could've sworn that I also heard him say that if the Club didn't make the finals there would be changes at the end of the year.
