When Schwaby released the plan for "The Premiership Quarter" the first thing I thought was, Ah the members survey results have been given to the board. For Cameron to come out with what he did sounded as though a Marketing ********er had his hand up his back. I wonder if the survey results showed membership regressing and members not intent on resigning. Will we ever see the survey results ?? Maybe our elected board members can shed some light on the real reason behind the "Premiership Quarter" ??

I doubt that the results of the survey will be revealed but it's fair to say that a large proportion of members are disgruntled. The membership figures for next season will be very interesting.

Schwab and the board have set themselves up for alot of criticism with the extension of CC's contract. Perhaps unfairly but good corporate governance will have Schwabs and Harts heads if CC doesnt improve Freo's performances.

For the sake of Iscah, Jarman and Tico and the rest of the antnest. By unfairly I think CC being approached late 2004 by Dunstall and the Hawks put them in a position where they needed to extend his contract to keep him rather or be coachless with all the viable alternatives already contracted and settled in their 2005 positions. There certainly appears to have been a breakdown in logic or bargaining strength by not putting in a "make the 8 or else" clause.

At least thats my view on his extension.

You make some very good points Freo Shark, but why would Dunstalls pursuit of CC in September be a reason to re-sign him the following February? It just defied logic. I think they planned to re-sign him last September, but Schwab knew that a lot of supporters were already uncertain of his ability so the put it off. They then thought we would beat the eagles in the wizard cup, members would be excited about beating our rivals and they would do it then. We lost to the eagles so the did it after a meaningless preseason win and put a lot of noses out of joint.

Good question. Maybe they thought by re-signing him soon after the Dunstall approach would make them a media target for criticism as being re-active\caught off-guard, who knows.

No matter which way you look at it it was an idiotic unwarranted decision.

Ok late 2004 what would you have done, be coachless or be forced to take a punt on a Freo assistant ??

Not that easy, and I think Freo probably blinked and took the easy road.

I still would like to see the members survey results !!

FS - I wish he had gone with Dunstall and the Hawks crowd. He would not be here to inflict more misery on us. I am now fully convinced that the players do not have any confidence in him and that spells a hopeless 2006 and another wasted year coming.

Yeah, that might be right. But I suspect, based on nothing more than Freo's tragic history, that he would have gone back and got Hawthorn into the 8 against all odds, and we'd be having another Issy hissy about how it was all Schwab's fault because he let him go. Not to mention endless sarcastic WCE/Port/Yakuza posts.
