Simplistic as it is we need more goals in 2015 from our established forward line - who is the 2015 forward coach?
The AFL website gave our forward line a wrap:
The Eagles are the number one team in the AFL for time in forward half differential and it starts with their centre clearance work. The Eagles ranked third in in 2014 for centre clearances due to the tireless work of Brownlow medallist Matt Priddis and the imposing presence of Nic Naitanui. That generates the ball going forward and teams often put men behind the ball against West Coast to counter the centre dominance and clog space for the Eagles' power forwards Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling. One thing that is underrated with West Coast is the defensive work of the forwards. The Eagles ranked second in the AFL for scoring accuracy behind Hawthorn. They kicked incredibly accurately throughout the majority of the year however in four games against Port Adelaide, Carlton and Fremantle twice they kicked a combined total of 37.58. Those games cost them a place in September. – Alex Malcolm

A full season from Mark Le Cras is a must.

Is Callum Sinclair potentially a regular forward given Lycett has made the #2 ruck pos his own at this point?

A regular forward at East Perth maybe. Only time Sinclair gets games for West Coast next year is if either Lycett or NicNat gets injured or needs a rest. Handy depth, nothing more.

JK- needs to take some overhead marks. More consistency. Its cool to watch him kick a huge bag of 11 but not so cool watching go quite for a month after.
Lecras- full season needed.
Midfield- needs to chip in with hitting the score board like other good teams do.

and when if things are not working out throw mcgovern up forward

We had no problem scoring goals against teams outside the 8. It will help to get a full season out of lecras. If Lycett can become a dangerous forward so that we don't depend only on Kennedy. With those 2 up and going Darling may get a less skilled defender. And finally we need more goals from our midfield group at the moment Shuey is the only one getting goals on a consistent basis.

Sinclair is pretty slight and gets a lot of uncontested marks through hard running. Isn't a dominant contested mark at AFL level and probably won't ever be.

At WAFL level last year he kicked more than two goals just once and it was against Perth in an extremely one sided affair.

Makes it hard to score when the number one target in the forward line is useless against a quality defender. Why can't we build a forward line around Lecras.

Stuff it, Im calling him out. Kennedy is the Priddis of the forward line, and that's a insult to Priddis. To only kick goals when we're flogging bottom teams is useless to us. Maybe in 2015 we would be better without him and using McGovern, Darling and Lecras as our targets.

Having the ball in your forward half doesn't necessarily make for the most efficient ball movement going forward. Given the number of players that follow the ball in modern football you end up having lots of bad inside 50's and a lot of slow ball movement. We need more agility and creativity at the ball drop to generate the space we need to make us more potent.

If we can't improve our ball use going inside 50 then McGovern should seriously be considered as a forward, he's potentially in the absolute elite when it comes contest marking.

I also hope Lycett and Naitanui can offer us more than Naitanui and Cox did over the last two years.

Your right mate. We tryed to beat it with 4 tall forwards and a lot of kicking to the hotspot. Works in 2010 but not anymore. Hope Simpsons got the balls to make some hard calls on the forward line setup. We went too tall in 2014, like we have in years before. Cox retiring helps and I can't wait to talk up the total domination of Naitanui and Lycett.

2013 we were worse in the midfield and JK was plunking everything and played awesome v all teams. Ppl just want to only remember his last 4 games where he along with 80% gave up. 2014 he was struggling Knee soreness all year.
Love his defensive pressure, it is a great bonus for the team. With or without a sore knee he looked a million dollars when we slaughtered bottom teams. He needs to step up because Lecras can also be a lead up full forward, and kick goals against the best teams

Kennedy is a quality player and the reason he doesn't do well against better sides is that our mids don't supply sufficient quality ball.

Stick Big Mac McGovern in the goal square and just put the ball on his head.

The kids a contested marking beast.

Kennedy, Darling, Lycett/Naitanui + potentially McGovern is tall enough. We don't need to go back down the 3 ruckmen path.

Both theory's are correct. The delivery to Kennedy by some of our midfield is often poor. But at the same time there is no denying that he's one of the biggest flat trackers on our list. Bullying the crap teams is his jam.

Agreed with JK's marks. Often on the lead he takes the ball to far over his head allowing it to be spoiled. This could be in part with shoddy kicks coming in, but at the same time he should be able to take it further in front of his head.

It will be interesting to see how JK improves next year, with the improvement of our young midfield I feel that it's just a matter of time before he starts playing consistent footy against those top 8 sides

Cheers.
200cm types play their best footy in their late 20s & he is only 25.

Our most likely set-up (with Gov in defence) is exactly how the premiers set up on GF day.

Darling = Gunston
Kennedy = Roughead
Hale = Lycett
McEvoy = Naitanui

I'm not saying they are exactly the same types of players, but they are similar enough.

Just showing that a forwardline that we would consider small, is considered pretty standard by most other clubs.

Port will have two rucks, Shulz and Westhoff.

North had one ruck, Petrie, Brown and Black in the prelim.

Can't think of others off the top of my head.
