It's hard not to like Wales, after all two Everton greats (Roy Vernon and Kevin Ratcliffe) captained both club and country while Neville Southall remains the holder of record appearances for both!
A Welsh appearance in a major tournament has been long overdue- they did come close to qualification for the Euro championships and World Cup on a number of occasions (a missed penalty by Paul Bodin cost them a place in USA '94) but hit something of a low ebb in the mid to late 90s. Mark Hughes has turned the corner and it's time he's rewarded. I'd like to see how far Wales can get in Euro 2004.
As for Scotland, I didn't actually expect them to make it to the play-offs let alone beat Holland! But they've got a golden opportunity, some promising youngsters meaning the future is bright after all, and they should be able to do it.
