Roast Scott Camporeale is a horrible coach

He's been here since Neil Craig. How many coaches have we rotated through while keeping this guy? And that entire time we've been completely unable to win pressure matches and tough finals.
this is the big problem, basically every player on our list has spent their entire career playing under Campo.

we can sack him but it'll take years to breed out his influence.

And then who do we hire as development coaches? VB and Thommo, who'll probably help teach all the same stuff to the new kids again.

He and Clarko have to go at seasons end.

Been here too long and seem to be bereft of new ideas.

Campo is also part time. His building company is his main job. Time we got someone fully committed to the job and sees coaching as their main career into the role.

Clarko can go back to birthing calves in Mount Gambier.

The not tagging strategy is ******* genius - clearly the first five times it didn't work were just bad luck.
So dumb.

One of Kelly or Brown should get the role. I'd give it to BC but he doesn't care about defensive running.

BOTH Cheney and Doedee should be picked this week. Remove a tagger and Smith can break the shackles on a wing.

Watching this Geelong game and it's positively embarrassing how awful our midfield structures are.
  • Jacobs getting decent taps, but our mids run under the ball and away from the tap zone. Consequently we don't get clearances.
  • Defensive midfield structures are non-existent. So when the pressure is on, the other team finds it easy to waltz out of stoppages because we don't set up defensively, ever.
  • We still hack kick out of clearances rather than working it around the stoppages like other teams. These kicks are cut off by a defensive sweeper on the 50 line about 98% of the time.
  • Players don't run defensively and they never had. Even when we had a gun midfield unit of Sloane, Dangerfield and Thmmo. Pure attack which never stands up in pressure games.
  • On top of the above point, teams tend to find it ludicrously easy to get the ball out of our forward line because our midfielders are caught in no mans land when they handball it out of defense. On the flip side, our structures deny us easy ball out of the opposition's defense.
  • No tagging when it's plainly obvious who needs to be tagged and when tagging works. Today, for example, Selwood needed to be tagged from the opening bounce to the final siren. Didn't bother.
  • When Sloane gets tagged, we have no answer. We don't get Sloane to work off another player, and we don't get out other midfielders to support
  • We have taught the mongrel out of our players. M. Crouch was a tough unit when he came to the club. Now he's soft.
  • Tackling ability is non-existent. We don't tackle well and we never have.
  • We don't play to the times. Umpires are letting people get away with drawing high frees and dropping the ball. We should be dropping the ball the moment we are about to be tackled, but we don't.
  • Our players have zero desire to win the football when it's tough and that is absolutely a coaching issue. We need to be coached to be tough at the ball.
All of these issues are under the reign of Campo, the midfield coach. On top of that, Campo has this inability to shake his love for absolutely s**t players like David Mackay.

As a reminder, Campo was the head coach when he dropped Lever and brought back Mackay for the 205 finals series purely because of "experience" reasons. Absolutely clueless. And then when we get pumped he can't make the hard calls to drop his 'mates' for their disgraceful efforts.

Has to go. He's finished at the club. Won't win a flag with him controlling our midfield design.
Has a lot of the Sando about him. Big on personalities and mates, not much clue though

Does he collect their testicles on arrival and hand them back on departure?

OUT: Campo
IN: Teague

Teague has absolutely smashed it out of the park as forwards coach (except for recent selection issues, hopefully he's not party to that)...give him a crack as Senior Assistant/Midfield coach if we can't attract anyone else decent.

Teague has been flattered by the cattle he's had to work with.

Our forward structures are actually atrocious.

he also apparently accepts the soft defensive efforts and bruise free football our key forwards put in week after week.

Great point, new policy that all ex-players need to sound at least 2 years at another club before they will be considered. This can be revisited in about 5-7 years when we've exorcised the continued influence of the Craig era.

This is the winning formula almost universally.

Nearly all the best assistant and senior coaches succeed at other clubs from where they played.

Conversely those who didn't get that outside experience like Buckley, Voss and Primus were unmitigated disasters.

Do you really think our board have the strength to not extend Campo after Walsh's death, having taken over and us winning a final. No chance.
no, but that doesn't make it any less dumb

Kelly every day of the week. Tell him he is in the middle and he has a licence to go manic, pay his salary if he is suspended. Guy has the fitness to be in the guts doesn't have the skills but who cares, Port won a flag putting Carr in the guts, no better image than him astride Acker with a clenched fist, game was over from that second.

At the point where thinking of his presence as midfield coach is making me physically ill. I cannot stomach him for any longer.
