Melbourne, (ESSENDON)
came off the bench last week and was sensational, i know the game was all but over when he did come on but he had a huge impact

could this be a new role for him, this week might be diff without lloyd but will we see lucas play as an impact player or was it a one off?

I think Sheeds should stick with what he did with Scotty last week. The game will be pretty much summed up in the 1st 10 minutes, with respect to intencity and our player's focus, and having the luxury of bringing a Lucas on the groud will be a huge bonus.

But you're right...we'll have to keep a stable forward structure this week...and Lucas will be required to kick a few. He showed some great signs last week.

We'll see how things pan out.

I think Lucas will have to play a bigger role up forward. Without Lloyd we have to find a mobile target or send Hird back (at a lot of last weeks centre bounces Lloyd started at CHF when Hird was in the guts) which I don't think we can afford to do for extended periods. He who wins the in the middle usually wins the game and we stand a far better chance of doing that with Jim playing on ball.

Barnard may be another option but I think perhaps hed be better suited to playing back in the square with Lucas up the ground.

Guess we'll see on saturday.

GO BOMBERS!

just noticed my terrible spelling error, of course i meant NEW role

um....both of you made really good points

scotty has been pretty impressive this season although he hasnt kicked as many as last year he has played further away from goal
he probably hasnt played many games were he was good for four quarters, this may have something to do with the decision that was made last game

as for the forward structure i would expect a rotation between barnard, lucas, rioli, hird, blumfield, caracella, mcveigh, and possibly fletch
but there are plenty of options

i know dan and a couple of others have said that barnard has to kick 4 in order to fill lloyds boots but if all the forwards lift i dont think it will have to be one person to cover lloydy

Lloyd trained well this afternoon. Shame that we're not going to see him out there on Saturday. Looked to be trying his guts out at training...helping the boys in their preparation as much as possible.

Hope they can have a win for him on Saturday. That'd mean a fired up Lloydy for the GF.

But firstly, we have to see what transpires on Saturday afternoon. I'm set for an anxious week. The build-up has begun!

glad you did an appropriate self-slam on the spelling there mate.

Jeez I'm toey about this week. More so than if it was GF. Is it just me or are you guys fairly nervous as well?

Oh. Barnard at FF - with Rioli and Alessio Lurking. No worries. Scotty (if he kicks straight) is good for 4 in a lloydless forward line. Caracella, JJ, Long, Hird, Rama, Mercs, Jacobs, Blum are all goalkickers. I'd be surprised if we don't kick at least 16 which should be enough.

YOu're not the only one mate. I have been toey since Saturday night. All this build-up is killing me. I just want the game to start! There is no doubt that i will get increasingly nervous as Saturday gets closer.

Hope the boys can get themselves into another Grand Final.
