Scotty has had a very disappointing season in my eyes. Since Lloyd went down it was up to Lucas to lift and try fill the huge void that Lloyd has left. However, I believe that he has not done this. Maybe, this is due to now he gets the number 1 defender?
He just doesn't seem to be able to hold a mark... thoughts?

Stood up against Richmond.

He was in a tough position on Sunday because he was no doubt asked to take Whitnall out of the play, which limited his impact on the match. Prior to that, I thought he'd been pretty good.

He has been good in bursts... kicks 3 goals in a quarter and none for the rest of the game kind of thing..

he's playing out of position with no support give the guy a break.

scottys caper is run free and create his own space not play man on man which is what is being asked of him now lloyds gone. I mean he was ok without being startling last sunday, he missed 4 gettable shots by lucas's standards and i think he has averaged 3-4 goals since lloyd went down thats a 60-80 goal season?????????

he played better when hille went forward, infact the essendon players kicked more direct when hille was forward and we looked much more dangerous.

I think we should give this lee character a shot in the forwrad line we have nothing to lose.

lucas great kid.... great long straigh kick.. but i hate to say it .. he has always played second fiddle to lloyd..derr so now the spotlight is on him maybe he is in foreign territory that he attracts the big defender... because as a second forward with hille rooming he was always hard to match up against... he just needs support because he is not a player that can kick 6-8 goal bags like lloyd which is fine.. because he is great at what he does.. put another big target down there like laycock... to take some pressure off him

they have put laycock down there but he wasnt as formidable as hille looked.

give laycock another 10 games and i think he might develop things like body position, toughness and strength one on one etc... remember laycock has not played that many games with the big boys.. and alot was in the ruck

Geez he's only nearly won us 2 games in a row single handedly on his own and also played very well in round 1 aswell.

Get off his f----n back, comments like "has had a very disappointing season" when he has been one of only a few senior players to really put their hand up this season is a slap in the face to him.

leave scotty alone
he singlehandedly nearly stole the game against richmond
played a monster of a second half against hawthorn to again nearly pinch the game and is one of the genuine champions of the club. if only he told his 26-29 year old mates to have a dip like he is, then we would be doing alright.

So you are saying he has filled the void that Lloyd has left?
If Lloyd was goaless in a match then that would be a very disappointing match for him, why not Scotty? We expect lloyd to mark anything that goes near him, why not Scotty?

Scotty isn't a FF, and apart from certain parts of the Carlton game, hasn't even really played there since Lloydy's injury

When do we expect Lloyd to mark everything that comes his way?

Some of the delivery Lucas got on the weekend was dreadfull, forcing him and the much stronger Lance to wait under the ball alot

because when the ball hits the ground, Lloyd is useless, where as Scotty works hard to keep posession of the ball.

When Lloyd doesnt dive to the ground trying to get a free kick he is not useless.

Lucas is our number 1 forward (now). Why not play him out of the goal square? I see no use in him getting the ball 70 metres out and looking to pass. It was fine when he had a target but now thre is never anyone to kick to. Since Lloyd went down we have lost our structure.

1. He's not a very good FF, lacks pace from a strong lead. He's better off hanging around 35-40 metres out and turning back into short leads and shooting from 45 meters out.

2. It's worth trying Lovett on his own, giving him space or keeping Laycock/Johns in the goalsquare with Lovett at their feet.

totally agree. play lucas out of the goal square and that replaces the missing full forward who we can kick direct to inside 50. now we have to find someone to fill chf because we need a leading target to kick to coming out of the backline because we dont have the speed or skill to run it through the middle effectively to deliver it down to lucas. maybe bolton (as much as we hate him) can have another crack as a leading chf, or take a risk a play mcphee there and hope to find someone to cover him down back.

would also like to see l/murry out of the goal square quick lead good hands and good size but he is playing too well of half back.

Kepler Bradley would be perfect for this. Doesn't need to kick goals, pretty quick on the lead and can mark. I have been saying for weeks that we should put Kep CHF and push lucas to the FF.

Jules, Angus... I hope you guys are about 14... because you really dont seem to get it.

Sorry to be so blunt.

Ari explain why this is worse then what we have been doing? you know our last 6 weeks when have lost....
We have no forward structure, this would create some more structure then we have at the moment.

Kepler is quick on the lead?

If you want to change it up a little then why not throw NLM forward to play that leading marking option.
