Remember $600k now is like $450-500 prior to the cap increase that just kicked in.

Not alot of ruckmen in the game. Flankers and mids are plentiful but teams pay extra for talls who can play.

What do you think Lycett is worth?

Is he more valuable than a Motlop?

Keep him . No more discussion . Richmond don't even need a very good Ruckmen .
Well we paid #46 For Nankervis on a 3 year deal rumoured to be around the $800k-$900k for 3 years

Cant for the life of me see any team offering $600k-$700k for Lycett who has only managed 58 games in 7 years and to be perfectly honest is pretty average and never going to be an elite ruckman.

Think he will stay at west coast if they are paying him $500k

If WC are paying him $500k then it's not that far-fetched to suggest someone will offer more.

He is about the same value as Nathan Vardy was when he came to west coast

Injury prone 2nd Ruckman that wouldnt be in the top 10 ruckman in the game - He is not going to get that sort of money
West Coast paying him 500k doesnt mean other teams will - They clearly over paid

That's obviously wrong.

Vardy had played four games in three seasons before joining WC and had not proven he could hold down the ruck full-time. He was borderline delisting material.

Lycett is more accomplished than that and is more of a known factor. He could walk in to some clubs and be the #1 ruckman. Lycett has already done more in 2018 than Vardy did in his last three seasons at Geelong.

In the end, Geelong traded Vardy to WC for pick 72 in the 2016 draft. You reckon WC would accept that in a trade for Lycett?

That doesn't mean he's on par with Vardy at the end of 2016. That's a stupid comment.

You're the one mentioning $500k.

So if WC are offering that, it's not at all far-fetched to suggest a richer offer would come from another club in greater need of a readymade ruckman.

If we are taking $500k as the benchmark offered by WC, then it is entirely conceivable that another club could offer more.

I hope they don't. But the reality is that we've seen clubs pay a premium for readymade ruckmen in the past. Look at how keen the Swans were to get Callum Sinclair at the end of 2015. He was an unco second or third ruckman at WC who'd played 29 games. But the Swans went and offered him a four-year deal on reasonable scratch. Lycett is a long way ahead of where Sinclair was.

all the gear but no idea

This is laughable. Hopefully he stays and it seems like he will. Honestly unless Lycett wants the number one gig somewhere then ultimately his value and ranking vs the rest of the ruckmen is speculative, irrelevant and remains unknown. The fact he statistically on par with a lot of first string and solo ruckmen while he's playing second fiddle shows his absolute quality.

People are funny with how they perceive ruckmen. Fundamentally their ability to accumulate uncontested possessions through marking is the most useless attribute they have. Lycett is one of the games best stoppage ruckmen, he doesn't get the minutes there but he's averages 3.8 clearances a game. He's a proficient forward with strong hands and extremely quick for a player of his size. Plus his disposal is top notch for a ruckmen.

Think he will stay.

Why would he move?

Getting games, winning, doent have the pressure to carry 100% of the ruck load and more importantly wont be getting smashed by Naitanui tackle.:D

Well sounds like Geelong and both Adelaide teams are now interested. Geelongs rucks are just not performing and both the Crows and Port have aging 1st rucks who could be in their last year next season depending on how their bodies hold up.

Im hoping Lycett stays but this could be his last chance to land decent money with a longer deal.

I hope he comes to Geelong, but I do have my doubts. If he does leave I think it be back to South Australia.

if he wants to be the number 1 ruck Port is his best option. Ryder's legs are cooked and could play up Forward as Dixon has played like s*** all year. Not to mention we have no backups as Sam Hayes has done his ACL, Franpton and Ladhams are useless.

Lycett 2nd behind a top 3 ruck in the comp, Nankervis while being applauded for his efforts last year was justifiably a 3rd even 4th tier ruck behind lesser rucks than NicNat at Sydney.

700k might be pushing it but if a club wants him, and there's definitely some that need a decent ruck who isn't poor at one of stoppages and hitouts (Lycett isn't poor at either, although seems more in a Kreuzer mould of doing his best work after the hitout than a NicNat/Sandi/Ryder one of dominating hitouts), they'll need to make the offer attractive enough to leave a top 4 team where he`s entrenched in the side and on a decent packet.

Well thats a bit of a turn around from earlier in the season.

If we retained Gaff and Gov and Lycett got us an end of 1st round pick I could live with that.

Definately need to bring in another to support Nic and Vardy.
