When a public entity is turned into a business then it operates with its own board and remuneration committee and the minister would be aware of those remunerations because the minister is the sole shareholder for those public sector businesses.

With any business it is relatively easy to see the justification for a bonus, & Ms Holgates actions were fine by me. She had the business case to support it. These were line managers & it is quite different to a highly remunerated public servant.

That Ms Holgate is being sought out in the situations vacant underlines her value.

I totally understand innocence until guilt is proven. I understand the allegations can’t be tested. And I think given the Libs disdain for women is well known and the electorate don’t seem to care.

But it’s the position he holds in cabinet that’s untenable. Morrison needs to read the wind and use the presser today as a justification to axe him - “Jenny wasn’t convinced” or something.

The Defence Force has since defended Campbell’s comments, which were made to the Australian Defence Force Academy and not delivered specifically to female cadets. Campbell warned trainee officers to avoid the “four As”: alcohol, out after midnight, alone and attractive
