Not to mention undertook bugging of a sovereign nation (presumably at the behest of a global mining giant - who’s really running this country?), and then used every underhanded technique to try to suppress their actions becoming known.

And the Government is still fighting to prevent access to any information about their hacking of a foreign country.

Kidding, right?
Federal Court reasons is going to be very interesting.

Those reasons are NOT going to state Djokovic was deported because “This is about someone who sought to come to Australia and not comply with the entry rules at our border. That’s what this is about.” as Morrison is peddling all over the MMS today.
Well, from the government that spun the Christian Porter/ABC decision as a massive win for Porter…

That was a great article by Prof MacIntyre in The Saturday Paper on the weekend. Basically saying governments are kidding themselves (and us) about what needs to be done to combat COVID. (With research now showing the overwhelming majority of transmission is airborne, what needs to be done is a massive program of ventilation in buildings, but that of course is a gigantic undertaking and governments are all too keen to pretend less expensive measures will see us through. She says they simply won’t, and COVID is not going away, so we might as well listen to the science and get cracking.)
They have $20b+ ferreted away, which was collected for community services and investment in infrastructure. They could use it for schools, rather than for LNP’s re-election campaign.

What an embarrassment, having Michaelia Cash as our Attorney General.

Notable occupants have included; Alfred Deakin, Isaac Isaacs, Billy Hughes, Robert Menzies, H. V. Evatt, Garfield Barwick, Billy Sneddon, Lionel Murphy, Gareth Evans, Lionel Bowen and Mark Dreyfus.

The bigger scandal is that the person responsible for the bugging, which favoured an oil company then left parliament to work at the oil company.

It stinks. If that's not corruption and illegal, I don't know what is. It's certainly immoral.
Stinks to high heaven. Slippery and co are this bad because Downer and Howard showed you can get away with anything.

recall reading the main motivator behind the timor leste bugging wasnt oil - but helium

and the private interests pushing hard for it were us miners scared of china moving in - and australia were only to happy to oblige these american interests because thats the push over deputy dog we were under howard (and, to be fair, still are)

is it true - no idea but there are media sources out there suggesting there is some validity to the claim

The only nearby gas field that has Helium is Bayu Undan and that all goes straight to Darwin.

Its highly unlikely Sunrise will ever be developed. It's easier to get Helium from deposits on land.

crikey have covered the story as well ...... bernard keane especially has been very critical of the feds over the treatment of bernard collaery and witness k (not sure he has touched on the motivations behind the bugging specifically)

Porter was also a notable AG whatever your take is on him.

Democracy seems to expect a govt to start well and become more corrupt the longer in power

Clearly this mob were at it from day dot

No he wasn't. Not in any sort of positive way.

Didn't he disband the Family Court because Pauline Hanson's family are deadbeats, but they really wanted to torture more sick refugees?

Great fella, any other notable achievements on his watch?

Notable means prominent and he certainly was so.
