Does Morrisson go to the next election trying to win it or trying to minimize the damage? As much as Rudd was a dud, he did do one thing for Labor and that was he significantly minimized Labor's losses in the 2013 election.
I think its too late.

I think the best the LNP and Morrison by default can do is lob some hand grenades that explode at the right time for the electorate to question Labor and how they are governing.

Its too late to make significant Rudd-like change to the current electoral mood. They can save 2023

By elections mean nothing. The result in Victoria occurred because of an appalling campaign by the coalition.
I like your typical lefty arrogance. It was the same arrogance that I recall seeing in the past few years.

Both examples are from non compulsory voting.
And arrogance, meaning the voters didnt feel they needed to vote, as it was a foregone conclusion that common sense would prevail and the idiots wouldnt vote for the ridiculous.
Different game when its compulsory voting

So who's celebrating invasion day in 12 days? Anyone?

Absolutely will be. Always a great time of year to celebrate this great country. I'm sure you will be joining in on the festivities too as a proud Australian.
The majority of the country wants to see refugees taken out of prison camps. I bet you don't like that majority.
A majority of the country also wants strict border control. I bet you don't like that majority.

Fiji urges Australia not to put coal above Pacific nations battling climate change

Frank Bainimarama says the only way to guarantee the survival of Pacific islands is for Australia to shift away from fossil fuels

Bainimarama said the only way to guarantee the survival of Pacific island countries was for Australia to shift away from fossil fuels.

“From where we are sitting, we cannot imagine how the interests of any single industry can be placed above the welfare of Pacific peoples and vulnerable people in the world over.

“Rising seas threaten whole communities, forcing them to endure the trauma of relocating from land they’ve endured for generations.

“Fijian farmers are watching their crops perish in soil that has been spoiled by the heightened salinity that is associated with sea level rise.”

Bainimarama said the evidence of climate change was clear in the disappearing coastlines in Bangladesh and worsening flooding in the United States.

“And in Australia as well, where soaring temperatures have reached record highs in several major cities just this week,” he said. “This cannot be written off as a difference of opinion.

“Consensus from the scientific community is clear and the existential threat posed to Pacific island countries is certain.”

Sco Mo says

“It’s our home and we’ll be working with fellow family members here to address the impacts of climate change here in the Pacific.”

Sounds like he is going to build them a wall

A campaign reinforced policy wise by scomo and Dutton before during and since. (African gangs, east west link the list goes on)

It seems it is safe for melburnians to go out to dinner, but young females alone on public transport, despite taking precautions, can be slaughtered seemingly at random

Surely the epitaph for this gumnt is the colossal policy failure in power and renewables. A space they themselves identified as the greatest issue

Ms O'Dwyer will be flanked by Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Saturday afternoon to announce she will not recontest her Melbourne electorate of Higgins at the election.

Rats off the ship.

Good riddance to another Liberal / parliamentary lifer with no idea what the vast majority of Australia wants or needs.

I genuinely wish her well in her private life and hope she finds the happiness she desires with her family - but we don’t need people like this in public office.

I'm betting, either New York or London
New York would be nice.

Bracks was appointed to the role of Australian Consul-General in New York in May 2013, by the Federal ALP Government of Julia Gillard. At the time, the shadow Foreign Minister, the Coalition's Julie Bishop, described the appointment as "inappropriate" because of the proximity to the upcoming election and "arrogant" because of a lack of consultation with the then-opposition. Following the defeat of the ALP at the 7 September election, incoming foreign minister Julie Bishop reversed the appointment in a decision described as 'petty and vindictive' by acting ALP foreign affairs spokeswoman Tanya Plibersek.
