Thank you for taking the time to explain your position. It is appreciated.
No problem Chief.
Furthermore, these fires are devastating the bush and the wildlife.
For a group that is constantly championing the cause of koala's etc, they sure do a great job of manufacturing conditions which bbq them. ALL of them.
It's a f***ing travesty.

Is this bushfire season early for QLD?

My thoughts on bushfire prevention are that we need to be aggressive in removing vegetation and fuel sources, actually admit that climate change is not helping as bushfire seasons become longer and more intense, also change the laws on people who deliberately start bushfires.

Typically, Qld doesn't have a bushfire season as such. But July to early October is traditionally pretty dry and windy in the south.

LOL!
The environmental approval process was deliberately drawn out for YEARS until Palachook finally found her ovaries and stepped on Trad and her Green cronies.
Now, address the actual issue at hand instead of deflecting.
??? that is the actual issue at hand, ie that the Greens control all the environmental planning in Queensland and yet were unable to stop a useless mine going ahead.

I remain unconvinced that it is the out-of-power Greens fault that bushfires occur, and have been unconvinced ever since the first person claimed that was the case a couple of decades ago. Incredible that only in this one specific area that the Greens have any clout.

You're 'unconvinced'.
Well colour me surprised.
Meanwhile millions of acres and animals are being needlessly bbq'd yearly.

Your insistence that since the Green party doesn't hold the reins of power, and therefore yields no influence, is laughable.
I'd draw you a picture but it still wouldn't sink in.

That does seem to be what it will take for any meaningful action to happen because at the moment they have their fingers in their ears and they're going lalalalala. They're the nutters, not me.
Could be a useful excuse for when the cops catch an arsonist nude in the scrub tossing over the fire they just lit.

Why do the Greens hold so much influence without holding any power? It's a bold claim, and I'm interested as to how this happens.

I'm not going to repeat myself. I have already explained it twice in this thread today.
You've explained your theory, but I haven't seen any evidence for it. I suspect that the Greens make for a useful boogeyman to shift the blame onto by those who actually have the responsibility for environmental management. Lots of people hate the Greens in the country, the blameshifting would find very fertile ground (pun sort of intended).

Kidding, right?
Scotty won’t like this;

Nah. Never Waste A Good Crisis is the motto of disaster capitalists everywhere. Finally their chance to introduce the sclerosis-inducing austerity measures they would have imposed on us in the GFC if they’d been in power.

Well, see, they’ve developed these incredibly powerful mind control rays that radiate from everyone’s turmeric lattes.... ah, I dunno, it’s ridiculous, isn’t it?

Just like all those “Cultural Marxists” dominating our universities except that I’ve yet to find a single person who calls themselves that.

We’ve had the hottest ever years for almost all of the last decade, here in WA, we had our hottest August day ever, September looks the same. Whether climate change is causing bushfires or exacerbating them, it’s a major ******* issue that the government wants to ignore and silence (notice how often the free speech warriors accuse people of ‘politicising’ issues when they don’t like the facts?).

When did we switch to nuclear and gas as our emissions free energy sources then?

The Qld Gov't will no doubt produce another meaningless report on these fires, just like they did on last November's infernos.
So let's focus on those fires as a point of reference as these current fires still pose a very real threat to life and property.
My bona fides are as a rural fire fighter who was on the front line at last years fires and who just reurned from the Stanthorpe/Applethorpe fires after a weeks secondment.
Yes, we do have a cool fire policy. One which is SUPPOSED to reduce fuel loads. However this policy does not translate across to Gov't/Crown owned land.
As a point of reference, I lease a substantial portion of a State Forest for grazing purposes. I have applied continuously for a fire permit to burn this land since March 2016 and haven't even received a reply.
Getting a permit on privately owned land is getting harder and harder.
In the November fires, 400,000 Hectares, (1,000,000 acres) of State controlled land was incinerated.
Some of that land, (Deep Water to be exact), hasn't had a burn since 1976!!
When you consider that this land is now all thickened vegetation overun with lantana and noxious weeds: it is IMPOSSIBLE to contain/control fires in this country when we have extreme fire event days.
How do us fireys then hold back a fire of this magnitude when it crosses into privately owned neighbouring land?
It is already an uncontrollable blaze sending embers many kilometres ahead and crowning in eucalypt forest. These trees literally explode due to the gas release from their foliage.
The Eungalla, (inland from Mackay), fires in November saw pristine rainforest destroyed. Something which seasoned fire-fighters never thought possible. But again, the fuel loads in the surrounding National Parks eucalypt forest, (again overun with weeds and thickened vegetation), made the blaze completely uncontrollable and the rainforest didn't stand a chance.
I feel sure that the current fires in the Gold Coast hinterland are a very similar story in very similar country.
I get to travel a fair bit talking to my fellow farmers interstate and ALL of them comment on how these changes have been implemented nation-wide and how difficult it is becoming to manage their own land, let alone any gov't controlled land which may be near them.
The Greens may not be OVERTLY responsible for fire management policy, however the distinct change in fuel load management over the past 25-30 years hasn't come from nowhere! Greens based ideology has infested every level of Gov't environmental management policy from the Feds down to local council and now we are paying for this utter stupidity with peoples lives and homes.
Climate change IS ALL WE HEAR ABOUT nowadays, and it certainly has a place in the debate. However climate change isn't influencing a policy which leaves vast tracks of this country's land mis-managed and posing a very real danger to life and property.
Kids are going to be dicks and light fires, (or arsonists), and these fires could be contained, in the main, if our country wasn't ready to explode due to idiotic policy makers and influencers.

The Murray Darling basin is dying because of the idiot policy makers and influencers (farmers).
Farmers are happy to let it die so long as they can make a buck.

A million times more important than the ability of farmers to back burn is the management of our water resources.
Curiously, one of the issues firefighters are now encountering is the lack of water.

The bog ignorance of soap boxers laying blame at the feet of "Greenies" for environmental issues would be mind boggling if it wasn't so predictable.

problem with your BS is that the LNP has been in power for 13 of the past 19 years...no point pointing out ALP misdeeds when you need to go back 7 years, which is precisely why this country is going nowhere other than recession.
Blah blah blah Problem with your BS...Very Nice comeback. You probably do not know this but Governments actually do not cause Recessions...they do not create Booms either. Governments are there in our socialist styled Economy to facilitate Business and Commerce. Do you actually believe it's Governments that give you the great life you have in Australia? Well do You?

You must have your own personal health, education,telephone,road/transport, water , sewerage , power, financial.........

It must just be a mere coincidence that some or all of those are missing in countries where life just happens to be shite for the individual.

Stop believing LNP utopian fantasies. Like it or not the govt is integral to the great life (or lack thereof) in any country.

In case you still don't get it....there is a clue in how govts come into existence.

I've got a B in Env Sc...Conservation and Land Management with a Masters in Fire Ecology from the early 90's.
Your ATYPICAL uneducated farmer it seems.
What we are seeing in Env Sc academia now, especially in fire ecology and overall land management, is utterly ridiculous.
No, or very little, boots on the ground research, just an overall ideology based on spurious, ridiculous bullshit papers that then heavily influences Gov't policy because ...
Well, I honestly don't know why.
But the environment is paying for it now.
And it will take literally centuries for these fire grounds to recover...if ever.
If we have a significant rain event in the next few months, all of that top soil and seed bed will be in the Pacific Ocean....and then the Greens will be up in arms yet again.
You are all idiots.

Look at you deflecting from the issue at hand.
"Farmers are happy to let it die"
That is idiocy in the extreme.
Why do you need to graze your cattle in a State Forest?
What is your issue with that?
Apart from trying to look even more ignorant
