If he’s on 288 then he needs 12 games and Collingwood has played 11 so that another 11 left of home and away hence 300 on first final.

As remember round 13 is our bye.

Be a terrific achievement.

Come out guns blazing in a red hot final... gonna be a massive occasion. Can't wait.

Also, this has reminded me of the fact that Dane Swan only failed to top the list of the highest disposal average in history for a complete career because he got injured in the first few minutes of his last game before he'd touched the ball.

If it had happened after he'd got his 9th possession he would have toppled Greg Williams.

Has a good record in his milestones games of bringing victories. His 250th the only exception.

Does anyone else think he could keep going at another club?

Obviously it would be great if he retired a one-club player, but at the same time it would be sad seeing him retire while we're at the bottom of the hole.

I feel like he still has something to offer, just not as the main man in midfield, something we're still depending on him to be as a 33 year old. Matthew Boyd re-invented himself as an elite back pocket for the Doggies at the age of 34, why couldn't Pendles do the same at a club that's contending?

And apparently the Gimp's not a genius..

We need to start looking for a coupla top rated bulls in the guts.. how we go about it.. no idea re.. but it's the most important thing we need to do going forward.. the influence one player can have in a side is enormous.. there is no use bringing in 2nd and 3rd raters.. even 1st raters.. if you haven't got a top 5-10 player in the AFL in the guts re. You're just going to make up the numbers.. bring in 10 2nd raters.. reasonable to good players.. you'll still struggle.. gimme 1 champion over 10 good players. 2 bulls.. and I'm in heaven mate.

Am I a great or what re.

Don't know why he was taken out of the midfield and left to starve in the forwardline. He was our best midfielder earlier in the season. Seriously need to swap him with Sidebottom.

He offers exactly what our young group needs... leadership to an extent he's almost an onfield coach. Just think he needs more support, so he's no longer one of our main mids.

Sidebottom of a few years ago, yes. However he doesn't currently have the one touch that small forwards need.

He was bad today. Like really bad. It was sad to see him make so many mistakes and poor decisions, but we can forgive him that for a week or two.

What was most concerning was his movement. He looked like he was uncomfortable just walking a couple of times. I wonder if he's carrying something, or if it's just age and miles in the legs catching up to him.

I’m of the belief he should call it quits at the end of this season. I initially thought one more was possible, but not sure it is any longer....

Absolutely not. When played in the midfield, he hasn't slowed down at all. Still one of our best midfielders. You don't retire off a legend after 1 poor game where you play him out of position in our forward line desert.

It’s not one poor game. I’m not in the business of retiring our champions, but the end is coming. He’s not 21.

I would much rather retire Mayne, Greenwood, JT, Howe, Cox before Pendles. He's still playing better than all of them. You can't just get rid of all your senior players and throw the kids to the wolves otherwise you end up like a Melb/Carlton/GC stuck on the bottom of the ladder for 10 years as your early draft picks fail to develop and you have to restart your rebuild multiple times.

I'm going to throw this out there why not put him to a half back flank or out onto a wing take him out of the bash and crash but for leadership alone we need him

He can’t play forward, so it’s really half-back or midfield on rotation.
I don’t think he can play half back either. He is not a great defensive stopper while playing in midfield.

He is pretty much midfield or nothing. If we want to play others in the centre, then Pendles needs to be on a wing.

Pendles and Sidebottom have slowed down a lot this year, Both are caught holding the ball on a regular basis and have lost that peripheral awareness of what is coming at them.
Pendles still has value in the middle or off half back/wing but not forward of centre.
I still think he's good enough for another year but Sidey is cooked and no way can both of them continue next year.

Started the season in AA form but I think it's a definite coaching/educational decision to play him elsewhere, but only once the season started fading away. Naturally it looks like he's on decline however if he was playing his natural game he'd still be getting 30.

Not only does it let him learn a new role, he can coach a new line (on field) and it gives the best wave a proper opportunity to learn how to play together.

If we were winning games and in finals contention I suspect he'd still be in the thick of it. If we turn it around next year I reckon he'll still spend most of his time as a mid.
