collingwood our great club has streamlined its leadership to a more traditional three man set up.
Great!

Captain: Scott Pendlebury

Deputies: Steele Sidebottom and Taylor Adams

outstanding streamlined group. Now allows the more junior leaders to build their credentials.

The choices are the obvious and rightly so.

Thank god Nathan Brown isn't in it...

Rate Pendlebury now. Thought he captained too early but prime now.

Adams not sure about him as a captain. Heath Shaw like and look what we did with him.

Sidebottom. I like.

It's a shame we didn't go with Brisbane's leadership method and make the guy who least wanted the job captain.
Beams only wanted to be captain the least until he got to Brisbane and had to deal with their rubbish, and then realised he'd rather be captain himself than have to play under Rockliff's captaincy.

Sound like a good group. If I was to be critical, modern coaching often splits the team up into forwards, mids and defenders in terms of drills and instructions - it'd be nice if all of our official leaders weren't from the one area of the ground. Particularly as leadership of our defenders and forwards seems more important from a structural perspective.

Indeed, an opportunity lost by the club in not appointing Mayne as the official forward leader!!:cool:

Jeez we have good leadership at this club. Any number of players could have been included.

You're being sarcastic right?

Moore and Maynard are too green, and there is not one other bloke on the list that deserves to be in the group.

We don't seem to have any leaders to organise our defence or forward line. When players split into their line groups during training and game breaks, we're going to have the captain and the deputies addressing each other and the other senior players in the midfield group. In the forward line group, Faz will be telling others about his latest exploits on the dance floor, meanwhile the defensive group will all be discussing how much rehab sux.

Adams to half back, Sidebottom to half forward? Seriously though, we have leaders without titles in those areas with Pendlebury speaking of Reid, Smith and Fasolo as others being capable.

I wasn't being sarcastic at all.

Treloar, Varcoe, Reid are all names you could have thrown into that hat.

Happy with this.

Good, sensible choices.

Could Steele ever make it being the captain though? Does he have the leadership credentials/qualities?
You'd have to go Adams then maybe Treloar if you were fair dinkum as a club.

Sidebottom, doesn't scream Captain of the club off field, on field he makes too many critical errors and doesn't grab the game by the horns enough.
