Brownlow
-----------
Marc Murphy 15
Scott Pendlebury 13

Bryce Gibbs 15
Daisy 0

Pendlebury played 3 less games.

Judging by the average of 0.68 votes per game, he would've ended up on 15.

As for Gibbs, his voting was ridiculous. He was gifted votes earlier in the year when he didn't deserve them, but then seemed to miss out later in the year when votes were warranted.

Everyone knows Thomas had a shocking year, but a superb finals series. I'll take the latter any day.

Superb finals series....lmao

Look past the statistics for a minute, and actually watch the games. Oh wait, you only saw them on TV, you don't get to see that Thomas is comfortably our hardest worker. It's almost unanimous among Collingwood supporters that he was our best player of the finals series. One of the only players that seemed to be chasing, winning his own ball, breaking the lines and taking the game on.

Use whatever hypotheticals make you feel better. Fact is Both had good seasons but Murph finished ahead.

Gibbs showed what an elite player he is and Thomas the tank engine got no votes lol. :)

In addition, we had this guy named Judd taking votes from our young stars. I believe Pendles topped your table. ;)

Topped the table in a side that made a prelim, despite missing 3 games and struggling with injury for a month. What a STAR. Meanwhile, Carlton have three high pollers, because they are the only three decent players on the list perhaps [outside of Fev, who doesn't count in the midfield medal]? Whereas Pendlebury plays in an extremely even team, when anyone can bob up and get votes [if the umpires decide to give them out, rather than to the opposition]. Can't argue with the facts, princess.

FWIW, if the results of the worst award in football really makes you feel that much better... then all the best to you. You must have a lackluster life.

Gibbs... elite... lol.

Now now, no need for personal abuse, though actually, it's quite telling.

I guess we can each come out with our own interpretations 'till the cows come home. This, however, cannot be disputed:

Murph 15. Pendles 13.

Further, I will say that the fact that Murph is now leading this poll despite being a long way behind initially, suggests to me that the bulk of football fans now agree that Mighty Murph has well and truely extinguished any doubt that he is currently the better player. :)

Next time you see Murph congratulate him for winning a poll on bigfooty.

What was the size of the netball skirts your gun players wore on Saturday?

You know what I like about this. A Pies supporter with the id "loveLEON" would post a link with downhill in it. That's funny!
Put his mates Didak, Cloke, Anthony, Medhurst in there too

Leon might be inconsistent, but is not a downhill skier. AA FP, and one of the true matchwinners in the comp. Anthony is atm, but it's difficult to class a kid at FF, who is playing his first full season, who kicekd 50 goals as a downhill skier .

Cloke is one of our only match-turners, hard working and big marking. Medhurst and Didak can both win games off their own boot on their day. Murphy just recieves, and runs to the square whenever the ball in Carlton's forward 50, and will always take a shot when he is within 60 metres.

You know what the funnies thing is? You weren't playing on Saturday :D.
Or in finals week 2.

Lost in week 1 in one of the softest and heart-lacking last quarter displays in finals history. I enjoyed watching Murphy hang out the back of two 2 on 1 contests waiting for the handpass, when he could have gone in to at least win a ball up. Both resulted in goals. And Carlton's exit from September.

As distinct from the wobbles who second half was the weakest and heart-lacking performance seen.

Congratulations to Neon on all his hard ball gets in the finals.

Yet he polled better than the league's highest possession winner.

The obsession with the Brownlow is amusing, though I'd expect nothing less after three Carlton players happened to poll well. The funniest part is the sheer stupidity, "15 is lyk.. wayyy hyar than 13... numbaaa of machhes duzznt matta!"

Hodge polled 2 votes last year, despite being one of THE premier players in the competition. COREY ENRIGHT DIDN'T POLL A VOTE THIS YEAR!!!!!The medal is a joke, and last night was one of the first times they had the winner right. Having Judd second summed up how much credit it deserves.

I'll take the AFLPA MVP and media awards long before the Brownlow.

Oh well, you need to scrape the barrel for "victories" down at Carlton. Keep going, it's making me chuckle. We'll look forward to smashing you again in 2010.

i wonder how many times Pendlebury has marked the ball in the back pocket from a kick in?

Yeah, he's better off not providing an option and letting the opposition zone keep the ball in our defensive 50. Murphy wouldn't know how to do that, he's too busy running forward already.

AFLPA had Judd in 3rd place, behind Ablett & Riewoldt (2nd in the captaincy voting behind Riewoldt). The Coaches Association voted Judd 2nd, behind Ablett & Judd won The Age Footballer of the Year, did he not?

Looks to me the umpires concurred with the players, coaches, media & of course, not forgetting the AA selectors.

The Brownlow Medal isn't the 'be all and end all', but it should never be forgotten it is awarded to the Fairest & Best player, in that order, which will go against those players who consistently place themself on the wrong side of the umpires (hence why Fev doesn't always get votes in games where he kicks a 'bag').

And kicking goals in plentiful supply. Goalkicking midfielders are worth their weight in gold.

No.

Swan finished second in the MVP, and he won the Herald Sun Player of the Year. And the AFL Media Association's Player of the Year award, which is an aggregated media award.

Cool.

That was exactly my point, he's too busy looking to kick goals to help out in defense.

Not that kicking goals is a bad thing, particularly when your forward line consists of one player, and one player only. Murphy fulfills his role perfectly.
