What are your thoughts on who will become the better footballer and who you would rather at your club.

Scott Pendlebury or Shaun Higgins, take your pick

The better footballer would clearly go to Higgins. Hes got it naturally. Although a tall, athletic midfielder would be nice i would rather an in and under type midfielder with a good football brain.

pendlebury has proven to be a more in and under midfielder than higgins this year...higgins has played mostly as a half forward flanker

It's funny that Higgins is apparently the natural footballer that knows how to get the ball in and under, when Pendlebury is averaging 8 more disposals a game, twice as many marks, and twice as many tackles...

Pendlebury's kicked 12 goals playing almost entirely in the midfield, to Higgins' 19 playing pretty much exclusively in the forward line, and goals from midfielders are worth their weight in gold.

Honestly, fair enough if you like Higgins, but Pendlebury is so far ahead of him at this point that voting for Higgins is either trying to be too "smart", or just anti-Collingwood bias.

There's a reason Pendlebury is going to win the Rising Star in a canter (Unless Martin Clarke steals it from him ;) )

Pendlebury is far superior to Higgins. Higgins is a very good finisher, but Pendles doesn't go too bad in front of the big sticks. Has kicked 12 goals this year, considering he doesn't play in the forward line as much as Higgins that's a good effort.

couldnt have said it better

cant beat the facts and pendles is dominating at the minute for a second year player.

having said that, Higgins will be a good player. He just needs to get his hands on the footy more. 8 touches a game just isnt enough.

But we think Higgins is better.

Just accept it.

Higgins averages 11.2 Disposals per game, 1.5 goals and 2.2 Tackles.

Pendlebury is only averaging 8 more disposals and 1 tackle but Higgins leads the goal tally.

The thing with Higgins is that he is versatile and he can play in the Midfield or as a small forward.

And Higgins is 2 Months younger.

higgins inst in the middle at the moment because he is needed in the forward line (so of course he wont be getting the ball has much has pendlebury), also we are taking the approach where we will ease him into the middle. You watch how good he will be once he is used predominantly in the middle (think of cousins) because he has the perfect body size and he is a very smart footballer.

Not great.

Only. :rolleyes:Those 8 touches are more important than Higgins' one goal.

Pendlebury can play KPP being 190cm, whats your point?

And Higgins is 2 Months younger.
Pfft, stupid point. That means nothing.

Rare to see a collingwood player win a poll

Unfair comparison anyway. Higgins is more of a Dale Thomas type anyway at this stage. Why arent we comparing those 2?

FWIW, the 2 months comment is the worst I've seen. In any case, Higgins has filled out alot more than pendlebury plus Higgins has played far more footy.

That wasn't the question, it was who will become the better footballer in the future. Pendlebury way ahead of Higgins at this point for sure, but i think Higgins may just turn out better.

It really depends on what you want [for the future]

PS: These comparrisons aren't saying they'll be as good as the players they're been compared to just they're similar type players IMO

Shaun Higgins = Ben Cousins - a midfielder with class that knows where the goals are and can turn games

Scott Pendleburry = Shaun Burgoyne/Chris Judd - a taller more athletic type of player that reads the play extremely well ,bobs up with goals here and there and can break the lines

But with Pendlebury's size and relative lack of football experience, and the fact that he missed the pre-season in 2006 due to glandular fever, you'd figure that could have more improvement in him than Shaun Higgins as well.

Hence why being a fair way in front of Higgins at the moment is relevant - He's better now, and might have more improvement left in him.

id rather 8.5 possessions more per game than half a goal per game

and all of 2 months younger you say? wow

pendles by so far it aint funny at this point in time and think he'll be the better player longterm too
