To who? Him or you?
I suspect he's been given a contract offer from us that he is pissed off with. What is wrong with saying "That's a matter between me and the club, as it should be." Why does this have to be aired in public at all? If you want to put some feelers out quietly that's what managers are for, but why in effect stick a for sale sign on your head with flashing lights at all? What does it achieve, beyond coming across as woefully tacky?
It would be the dumbest move all on the back of a coaching offer.
He will get coaching offers whenever he finishes up.

Nah. Do you think Mitchell or Hodge damaged their brand in the slightest by spending the final couple of years at another club?
So to you not him thenAs a payed with his standing in the game...to him.
If I were a player with his CV...finishing my career for 12 months elsewhere would look back on it with regret.
He won’t have shortage of offers for coaching gigs post retirement
If they had their time again....yes they wouldn’t do it.
I think it also damaged the culture at hawthorn. it serves no purpose.
Jordan Lewis definitely agrees with this too.
So to you not him then
Lewis is different in that he felt pushed. What makes you think Mitchell wouldn't do it? He's become head coach much quicker than he otherwise would.
As if it was ever going to be anything else
I think being a Premiership winning assistant coach is pretty significant on his resume. Particularly as he got a fair bit of credit for their midfield set up. It would have also changed the relationship with the coach and playing group to one where he was seen as a coach rather than a player. I think it matters. He went for one year....do you think it impacted his prospects of coaching?
he went straight back to hawthorn on the first flight out of Perth
Was going to post the same thing. Makes zero sense. He wants more than what we are offering or a second year- or both. Which means to me that GWbhas offered a modest amount compared to previous generositiesIt would be the dumbest move all on the back of a coaching offer.

Thats the thing. In a normal happy working environment, you’re willing to stay on for less.Maybe the Eddie and bucks departures and salary cap debacle and now the ongoing board disgrace have loosened Pendles commitment.
Definitely still feels toxic to me.
It makes sense, another theory hypothetically speaking, several weeks ago a caller on SEN to have seen Clarko & Pendles having a coffee(believable??)Pendles is contract negotiating through the media whilst club captain you think? Alternatively, maybe it's already been decided. Maybe Pendles got a tap on the shoulder. GW and Gold Coast guy meeting recently remember. GW was the guy when Mitchell, Hodge, Lewis et all were shipped out yeah. Perhaps this is the charade that has to play out before it's announced. It's a crazy world.
It’s the Pies next Succession plan!It makes sense, another theory hypothetically speaking, several weeks ago a caller on SEN claims to have seen Clarko & Pendles having a coffee...Could they unite at the Suns next year?
I think from Scott Pendlebury's perspective - in terms of viewing himself as a potential career coach going forward - I think it makes a lot of sense. I saw him play his Ist game against Brisbane in 2006 at the MCG. If I recall accurately, he kicked a goal with his Ist kick in AFL football at the Richmond End after receiving a pass from Buckley. After 16 years & all of his achievements, he owes the club nothing at this point in his career. In terms of his own development, I think that experiencing a different culture & a totally different work environment can only enhance his development. Good luck to him. Goodnight & good luck.To who? Him or you?
Times have changed... it's a legit career move. The assistant coach world is fairly cutthroat... it's best to build up your resume while you've still got a couple years left in your legs. Being a legend gets your foot in the door, but guarantees very little. It's a professional move, and he is a professional guy. Leaving behind sentiment is part of that.I think It’s vastly overrated.
Playing days are different to post playing days.
If he wants to coach then retire.
As a player...to finish up elsewhere....when you’re also the games record holder and captain of the club...makes little sense

There's been captain/coaches before...they weren't unprofessional. All teams value onfield experience. The onfield coach / playing old legend model can work fine.Professionalism....choose what you want to do.
play football or coach?
Luckily for us and for him he seems smart enough to continue Playing
