Probably. Doesn’t change what I said about old man Scott.

Resented this guy for years now. People hate Selwood for playing for frees, Pendlebury is just as bad. But At least Selwood is tough and a good captain.
Cry more. Your bitterness about no grub from your club being worthy of cleaning Pendles' boots is on show in a major way.

If you’re resenting a player like Pendlebury you should probably stop watching footy.

From a neutral point of view while he's been a top level player for a long time the end is coming a bit quicker than maybe expected, it can happen quickly once a player gets to his age. He basically can't play anywhere other than midfield and that's a problem for a player in his 16th season. A guy his size should be able to go forward and be a marking option but it's never been his go, hard to learn it at 33/34. He's the king of the 1 2, should probably demand less of the ball from teammates nowadays. Doubtful you will play finals in the next 2yrs so his role now should be more about bringing younger players into the game rather than still being the main man, no shame in that.

And yet he is still twice the player Heppell is.

At least he isn’t on a million a year and actually got us a GF win by being BOG in a GF. Grundy disappeared and was no where to be found in 18 GF.

Honestly can’t believe people are laying into him. Champion of the club deserves better then this crap. When he does retire people will be wishing we still had him.

Pendles has never depended on pace. To me he is a bit like Mitchell and may still have 2-3 years in him. He is by miles our best user of the ball and while he may decline a little he could still be used in run with roles. We also need his leadership whether that is as skipper or not as he is like a onfield coach. They are rare. I want our younger players to experience 20-30 games with him. We will be better for it longer term.

Pendles has had a slow start - but he aint Robinson Crusoe there.
Another example of him struggling with the game plan was 2 times in attacking 50 looking around rather than kicking for goal.
Exactly the same as Maynard - natural game is get the ball and run kick long - now is stopping and looking for a handball or short kick.
2 wings should be Maynard and Madgen who both can take the man on and move the ball quickly.

No reason why he can't play 2 more years, so what if he is still our best midfielder, the onus is on the other midfielders to step up and try to emulate what he does

I agree he can play another 2 but its not a good thing that he is still carrying the midfield from a club/list perspective.

No it's not a good thing and I can't see who is going to come on enough to replace him while he is still playing. Hopefully, McCrae and Reef come on really quickly, but yeah, he needs help really soon

I think he's got 2-3 left on the wing as he's still our best and most creative linking player. But he's becoming a defensive liability around stoppage.
