Will he surpass bucks??

Not a chance. Don't ever forget how amazing Bux was. Because he played in poor sides doesn't diminish how extraordinary he was. Greatest player to put on a black and white guernsey.
I love Pendles, and he fits perfectly into our team and the modern game but Bucks was a machine.

yeh i think you will be correct, bucks was my fave player ever, never seen a better kick ever.
Pendles is still young, he well could be in collingwoods top 10 best ever players by the end of his career:thumbsu:

wont cost him a norm smith though:thumbsu:

Ah yes, that's the plan! :)

Of course, he already has a Norm Smith.. and a couple of ANZAC medals. Given he's won a Copeland and All-Australian, a Brownlow would almost complete the set. Actually he was unlucky to be pipped for the Rising Star award too- quite the stud is our boy Pendles.

and to think that Xavier Ellis was picked ahead of Pendles in the draft.
Only thing in common is that they each have one flag. But Ellis won't win anymore

The thing that I love about him is something that I haven't seen since Ross "Twiggy" Dunne and that's his ability to make time almost seem to stand still. When most other players would be tackled to the ground, Pendles has a rare ability to make small movements with his body which make opponents worried about committing to the contest for fear of overcommitment. The only other player at Collingwood that I've ever seen with that ability was Twiggy. For those who saw him play it's the one thing that stands out in the memory (if you discount his mark and kick to draw the 77 GF). Past Bucks for mine!

Question....

Has a player ever done all that by 24-25? Would Pendles be the first? Anyone know...?

Daicos was best evader I've ever watched but Penders mesmerises them, fakes them out with body language and even head movements.

Clean
Sleek
Smooth

The velvet sledgehammer, 20 minutes into the first quarter he has 9 possies and 2 goal assists, seemingly without being touched.

Unbelievably good.

No doubt Daics was amazing but this thing that Pendles has and Twiggy had is almost supernatural. Twiggy always looked incredibly slow but yet nobody seemed to be able to lay a glove on him. Time just seems to stand still. It's pretty unique and while there have probably been others, Twiggy and Pendles are the only two I can remember that had it to this extent.

Don't disagree PNS was highlighting -albeit poorly - the ability to slip an opponent physically (Daics) versus the ability to simply be 2 thought processes ahead (Penders and The Twig).

Have never seen anyone as good in traffic as Penders, appraises the situation, see's the options, picks the most damaging and executes. All within a blink of an eye and without a break in stride.

Bucks was one of the greats however I think that Pendles will at least be mentioned in the same breath by the end of his career. Particularly if he finishes as a premiership captain.

James Hird - arguably the best ever in this dept - although Pendles may surpass even him. That's why I would like to see Pendles played forward more often, especially when our forward line gets one of its fairly regular attacks of constipation. That's where Twiggy mostly played.

Of course he is needed in the midfield too. He could be given license to go at will between the 2, dep on where he is needed most, which I think was the sort of free reign Hird had.

Football genius - it's a delight and privilege to be able to watch an amazing player like this esp on our side. Yep the one player that we probably can't win the big one this year without (maybe including Cloke).

I always wonder how fast Pendles is - doesn't seem fast but neither does Swan and he def is. Can certainly run backwards v fast!

There's no doubting Hird was awesome to watch but I can't say I ever saw the same sort of evasive skills in his game that you see from Pendles or that Twiggy had. Hird had more of the quick hands and the inate awareness that you see from Pendles but I never really got that feeling of time standing still when I watched him. Of course that may just be because I didn't watch him as much as I do Pendles so you may well be right. In any case the point is they were both amazing to watch and we are priveledged IMO to see what I think probably amounts to a once in a generation player.

Wouldn't mind watching an old game with hird in it to refresh my memory. I wonder if anyone knows a game that he played well in? probably would need to ask the essendon board.

Bombers v Eagles at Etihad. I think it was about 2004 and Hird played one of the greatest last quarter of footy I e ever seen. It was the one where he also kicked the winning goal and hug a kid leaning over the fence.

I think I found it on aussie rules torrent site. Called Telstra dome then, 2004 round 3. No seeds right now but hopefully one will turn up.

edit: looks like all of Hirds disposals in that quarter, not really Pendles-like but I'm pretty sure I've seen him playing like that when he needed to.

Also highlights of the game geez essendon were a powerful side then. Also career highlights - definitely some Pendles=like moments in there.
