Held us together down back.

He won't get the kudos of the other players, but for me he was absolutely fantastic with the absence of Rutten and Bock.

Really should get more recognition on this board, considering he was touted as delisted material just last year.

**** yeah.

I second that. Played the Bassett role beautifully.

Must stay on the list. People forget how good he was at CHB last season. Not bad a pinch hitting up forward either.

agree, should be dropped.
kinda missed the point there but im just being realistic ... can get shown up with his lack of strength sometimes and has a tendency to cough it up at the most inopportune moments as we saw tonight

not to mention, being played severely out of position with minimal support (if choco had the brains to play westhoff isolated on perrie, he would've killed us).

Brilliant is a fair overstatement I think. He did his job, but was far from brilliant. Made plenty of blues.

What was he thinking hilding Motlop in the square when we had 5 on 1? Just needs to switch his brain to the on position.

I reckon I can guarantee you if Scott Stevens didn't play, we wouldn't have won.

That may be so. But if Brogan had played, victory would have been alot more difficult. Our backline wouldn't have been able to cope with Lade or Brogan dropping back, so your point is moot. An "if" is not a solid point for a statement in this instance.

Gotta be forgiven for one mistake. Can't think of many others given the conditions tonight.

Stevens has definitely stepped up in defence in the absence of a Truck and Bassett.

cost us 2 goals in 5 minutes ...

coughed up the ball in the D50 and then gave away a stupid free in the goal square

Yep, and thats when the game was really up for the taking too.

Lucky for him that it didnt prove too costly, however, other than those 2 errors he was very good.

Stevens does have a great footy brain.

Hopefully we get Rutten & Bock back in the key defensive posts next week, as Stevens will be more value as the 3rd tall defender with Bassett out. Possible matchup for Steve Johnson.

Stevens does some good things as a defender at times but I always shudder when there's a high ball heading his way in a one-on-one situation as he'll often get out-bodied or give away a free kick.

If he doesn't give away some silly frees or has a brain fade now and then he'd get a lot more recognition. He's a solid player who is suited to a 3rd tall role than CHB.

Good luck to one of my favourite players in his 100th game.

He's come a long way since these days.

He is so underrated by almost everyone (our own board included) and I look forward to him playing many more games for us (probably playing Bassetts role next year).

Well done Scotty!!

I think he is a very very important player for us. Can play back or forward as the third tall or even go to a wing on a Goodes type if required.

Well done on one hundred games.

Lets see if I have this straight, Brad Moran is the "worst player on an AFL list" and Scott Stevens "just beats chris groom as the worst player to ever play for the crows", therefore Moran is the worst player ever to play for the crows?

Really needs to step up to the next level. He's been coasting at 'just above average' for awhile now.

...right.

And then you take into account the role he plays (hint, it isn't on the ball for 100% of the game).

He does his job week in, week out. For that he must be commended. I'd just like to see him really take the game by the scruff of the neck one of these days, maybe have one of those Porplyzia v Sydney games. Or am I just expecting too much of him?

lol, probably expecting a little too much.

hes not a game breaker. he wins his position every week, and is a better than average player.

to win football games you dont need 22 game breakers, you just need a team that works for each other.
