A classy and skilful midfielder, Thompson is one of the most disciplined youngsters in the National Draft. He is a focused and smart player who knows how to win the football and read the play well. He was a member of the AIS/AFL Academy team that played against Ireland and was a South Australian representative in the U18 Championships. It is hardly surprising that he has modeled his game on Collingwood skipper Nathan Buckley, such is his ambition and drive. Will be an outstanding pick up and could go as high as No.6 to the Kangaroos. However, he is also a likely to gain close attention from his home state and could make the transition from the Port Magpies to Port Power.

(Port chose Shaun Burgoyne with their first selection (12) and Melbourne snapped Thompson up at number 16)

I reckon he's definitely one to keep an eye on...
