You people keep bagging port supporters which is fair enough, However you should remember that your primary trade target is one too.

On topic tho...Thompson is a very talented youngster and has hte potential to be an outright superstar in future years. I would love him at the Power but by the sounds of it the Crows are definately in the box seat to get him. Good scouting there to get in his ear.

What do you Crows fans would think to be a fair trade for Melbourne? The 3 way deal involving Stenglien sounds like a winner but if that cant be worked what other deal would sound alright? Talk of Reilly and a draft pick on the main board is ludicrous but maybe Bock and draft pick or maybe Ladhams or Schuback and a draft pick.

Suddenly the Crows look pretty damn good if you also add in continued development of your youngsters.
I always enjoy a rational opposition supporter that comes on for a genuine chat not a troll. Other supporters take note of Macca19 and Bresh;)

I agree with you that Thompson would be a perfect fit for us as he gives us an inside midfielder who gets his fair share of clearences and hardball gets. He would also add a bit of the mongrel and toughness to our side thats much needed. All this and he is only 21 so we are recruiting someone for long term that would give us also a short term gain.

I would be happy if we got Thommo for Stinger and as I said a while ago on this board would be the most likely outcome. I know that we have been after Thommo for a while and have been talking to his managment for a couple of months now and it looks like its paying off.

If it doesn't happen I am not sure what we will need to trade for him but I know that Reilly and our 1st round pick is off the table. I guess the salary cap squeeze on Melbourne and our decent pre-season draft position might force Melbourne to get less for him that he is worth. Either way, I get the feeling that we are a decent chance of landing the lad and I for one would be happy with a player of his calibre.

No we are bagging the bunch of morons that give some Port supporters a bad name;)

The likes of Macca19 and Bresh are always welcomed on this board. I don't think same can be said for a number of others;)

Find it fascinating that the A/Port captain enjoys spending time on the Crows' Board. Great for state rivalry. ;)

Exactly Macca, there are a few Port supporters like the ones you mentioned that make quality posts on this board & most welcome.

However, some of the other trolls need to pull their heads in as you MUST RESPECT OUR BOARD. ie. Anti-Crows crap will not be tolerated on this board as you have your own board for that. Also, keep in mind that you are only giving some of your more reasoned supporters a bad name by association.

Our season's over. Port are about to embark on their most important week or two ever. Yet some Port fans would prefer to come here and talk about the Crows. Can't blame them really.
Intriguing really. Would have thought the energies would be best spent on their own clubs fortunes rather than creating bad Karma ... as a week is a long time in footy ... & monkeys can reattach themselves to one's back very quickly! ;)

No doubt about it, Port would be in a with a huge chance of getting Thompson. In fact, in my mind they are probably still strong favourites. The team he supported, more trade currency to deal with Melbourne.

But it does seem as though we have some chance, which is a big turnaround from where Thompson's mind was 2 years ago. We must be doing something right to have even come this far. But the hard work is still to be done.

My money is still on him ending up at Port.

Sadly I agree, it of coarse comes back to what trade currency the two clubs have. Port may be in a stronger position ( maybe Salopek), and the 3 club trade with Stinger I can't see happening because I think Melbourne will be of the same attitude as us re trading a mature starting midfielder for a #13 DP.

Very unlikey that Port will trade Salopek. IMO, they will only be in a stronger position if Carr decides to head back west, as they will have a good trade currency & need to get another midfielder ... & added bonus him an ex-Magpie junior.

Exactly Kane, which is why I'd be more than happy for Josh to stay at Port. Not only would Port have less to give for Thompson then, but with a pretty good list of young midfielders they might not even go for him.

I agree, I actually think that if Carr doesn't go we have little to no hope of securing a good player in trading. Doesn't really bother me a lot though, I'd prefer to draft than end up with another Cochrane.

I'd be looking at Dew and our first pick for Thompson or upping our first pick......would love to get Tambling in the draft but we need to get up the order a fair bit there.

Its interesting -- If you really are homesick would it really bother him which club he comes to.. Of course I hope he wants to come to Port. the only way i see us getting him is if Carry wants to go home o'wise we dont have much else of value to offer --

What do u guys see as fair in getting thommo to the AFC
- part of the stinger deal ??
- would u trade reilly?

This may have been posted elsewhere...

But Rucci suggests in today's paper that Thompson is more than happy to play for the Crows. His big aim is to just come home.

What will be interesting is if he is just chasing the best dollars or the club he sees as having the most success whilst he is with them.

i would say getting a regular game would have a lot to do with it as well...

could the Power find a spot for him??? If you lose Carr, i assume Salopek would slot into the Midfield...

Im guessing Port would find a spot for him, but i wouldnt have thought he would be a priority for the Power...

Of course.

We'd definitely find a spot for him. I'm pretty confident we won't be losing Carr for a couple more years. Salopek would get a game in the midfield rotation it would be players like Cochrane and Schofield that would miss out.

For the first time in a number of years I'm not sure what our priorities will be as I believe we have good depth in our juniors all over the ground so we should be going for the best players available no matter where.

I reckon the fact Freo missed the finals when they should really of made it may be a factor in Carr staying at Port & hence giving us a inside edge over Port with Thompson.

I've been told for a while now that Carr is going to play on for a couple more years before heading back home and yes Freo's performance should help that even more.

It will depend on what Thompson sees as we'll have a few permanent mid field spots opening up in the next few years with Schofield and Cochrane fighting for survival and then players like Francou (should he make it), James and Wilson getting to the twilight of their careers.

I suppose it depends on what angle Thompson looks at things from and where he rates team success compared to individual success.
