pretty sure i just heard hutchy say on footy classified he wants back in at the Dees

apparently said he'd happily go to GC too, just wants out of adelaide?

This rumour was going around draft time last year. They have bobbed up again. Thought it was just big footy stuff... Maybe not.

Maybe it actually has substance. Would be cool. Look like the culture down at Melbourne isn't so bad after all lol
 
Hutchy made it up to try to add weight to the GC rumour which will be breaking in Adelaide papers tomorrow. Nothing in it - our form is terrible but the AFC's culture is tremendous. Nothing other than an offer too good to refuse financially (which you'd think only the GC could provide), or the club actively looking to get rid of someone, would see a player head off.

Well we could debate about this until the cows come home, but yeah, there's absolutely nothing in the Scott Thompson returning to Victoria story. The GC rumour, well we'll have to wait and see.
 
Do you know personally amer? If not you can't say it with such conviction.
It is as bad as starting a rumour as to shutting something down unless you know the facts.
Is it possible he is coming to melbourne? Yes
is it likely? No

Crows are tanking this year. Not for draft picks, but so they can keep there good players out of GC's grubby little hands. The GC aren't going to want Tippet after this year, but next year he'll be back to the best young KPF in the league.

No I'm not serious, just making up crap. That's what BF is for.

Or almost until the crows come home. Agreed, not much point discussing something until at least a little bit official. Let's concentrate on developing the list we have got..

You’re right. It’s not like Scotty Thompson is a money hungry turncoat.

In a footballing sense the club would be stupid not to welcome him back. But it would have to be on our terms, if wants back in he would have to walk out on Adelaide and come back for nothing.
 
Seeing as we are using close to 100% of our salary cap this year, there is no chance we could afford scotty any more. i would be more than happy to make room by trading Miller and Newton for Thompson and Tippet though

On the contrary.

We are heavily front loading contracts in 2010, not necessarily in 2011 when Scotty would conceptually be a Dee. My understanding was we frontload this year was two fold; keep the group together long term, but also to have the ability to ward off GC and GWS and/or swoop on any player that finds his way on to the open market as a result of the new teams making inquiries.

That's because we are front-loading contracts, next year we won't be paying anywhere near as much of the cap.
 
I wouldnt give up too much for him, firstly he left us! secondly we dont need any more midfiielders

In saying that I don't think he will be back, he either wants mummy to tuck him in at night or he will sell himself to GC for a bucket load of cash.
