Yes he is over 24!! Unfortunately.

He would need to be a consideration if available in the PSD.

Even though we have Fev, he would be good on the HFF and as a backup. Sould get a few good years out of him while other players develop. He also has the abililty to kick bags.

Thoughts?

Would be interesting to see what would happen if he did become available in the PSD. Can't see it happening though. He left the Kangas becuase he was homesick. IMO, can't see him leaving Adelaide.

I dont know how many times ive said this but his not included in the youth policy. And i dont think carlton will take a backwards step from that, even if we got ben cousins id still have a bit of dissappointment at carlton for going back on there word.

Trust me, if Cousins was available in the PSD, you can be assured that he'd be wearing Navy Blue next year

He must have had discussions already with a club that is willing to draft him on a 2 year deal to walk out at this age with his history of injury.

My bet is the dogs.

I doubt we would take

At the moment he is the best player available, kicked 49 goals last year and two years beforehand kicked over 50. We could get 3-4 years out of him and I don't think recruting a guy his age is a real problem, it's not like our list needs to be much younger. He would give some good experience and would add an extra target for our forward line.

Fevola, Welsh, Fisher and Waite - that is pretty good.

If no one else of note is available I say take him, give him a 2 year deal, of course pending on whether Richmond pass on him.

If no one else is available then I would rather take a punt on a young new kid who was overlooked in the ND. Betts has done wonders for us. No need to take a player who will only be around for 2 years for the sake of it.

What a classic, I started this thread last year in my previous username, good to see it back again.

I rate Welsh in the right structure, would be a good back up for Fev. Could see him as a similar type player as aaron Edwards where he can play up the flanks.

I definately want him! I believe the idea that we have a real strong forward line is wrong. Although we used to, now with JK gone, Whitnall gone, and Waite a big possibility playing CHB (IMO Waite is still our only true CHB), our only key forwards are Fevola and Fisher. We can only hope that Hartlett will develop well. Welsh is a pretty bloody decent forward imo. He'll give quality, experience, and depth in that area of our team. The idea of picking up another "eddy betts" is pretty far-fetched. In a mega-weak draft, i would much rather pick up Welsh than take a chance on a kid who is so crap that he can't even get picked up in a weak national draft

Picking up Welsh? - It's a BIG yes for me! Even if people didn't want him in our starting line up, as i said, he provides depth incase of a injury to someone like Fev. Considering there is **** all on offer in this years PSD, i'd definately want him. Every club will want him - he's easily the best available so far. Won't get past Richmond if you ask me

Wanted to start a thread on this the other day actually but can't start threads yet coz im a new user. Think we should definitely take Welsh. Is a proven goalkicker and always bobs up with 2 or 3.

If Fev is having a bad day.. who better to pop up with 4 or 5 goals? Yes we have alot of good forwards but how many are really capable of kicking bags? Welsh has proven he can.

I'm actually thinking we should pick up that player Freo Delisted in the PSD - Ryley Dunn, he was a top 10 pick from vic a few years ago, and clearly has talent, but it didn't work out for him other there.

He may not be naturally talented as Welsh, but he is a safer, longer term bet IMHO.
Seriously Dunn is a player we should keep a close watch on .
