Scott's influence on Steve Johnson's game.

I have no issue with how Stevie J play's. With Chapman further up the ground and his kicking penetration not what it was Johno is that far ahead of the next best forward at Geelong it's not funny.

No doubt he frustrates everyone at times but his good traits outweighs is bad by a fair bit.

If he had his 2010 season after his 2006 season we'd all be talking about how awesome he is. Because he had his 2010 after his 2007-2009 people thought he was ordinary.

Agree. Johnno is never ordinary. I can only see good coming from having a new coach and some new ideas about how SJ can maintain his influence.

Hopefully Johnson himself will now be able to see playing for free kicks when you are a member of a top side won't get results -they have to be obvious. (Selwood has to get mugged to get a head high paid).

Johnno you know how it works ..see ball ..get ball..deliver ball (through the biggies). See ball.....dive ......... doesn't work.

I've only got one request with regards to SJ.
Can someone get him to stop trying party tricks?

I knew he was in for a dog of a prelim when he was practicing (unsuccessfully) kicking the ball across his body before the game.

Because nothing good has ever come from Johnson kicking across his body.

Plenty of great kicks into the middle from out wide on the 50 metre arc.
I know that.

I just think that when you are warming up you should be concentrating on the most important skills. Whether that be kicking from a pocket because there is a wind blowing that you want to calibrate to. etc.

Not left foot drop kicks over the head whilst doing a cart wheel.

A high proportion of his goals come across his body, probably one of the most important aspects of his game.

Need some footage of before that game for perspective I guess.
I have only seen it the once. They weren't your normal across the body kicks.
They were "Hey rocky, wanna see me pull a rabbit out of my hat?" kind of kicks. And he grubbered them.

To be fair, I thought Johnno had a great season, I just don't like seeing him lairise and point his finger at people and play for frees and so on.

I don't think anyone seriously disputes Johnno's form or the fact that he's a gun.

He should go and watch the game he played against Sydney in Sydney this year. In that game he did all the basics, all the solid things, and he ended up kicking six goals IIRC.

Unfortunately for us he's become a bit of a down hill skier/flat track bully ever since his Norm Smith win, slaying mediocre opposition but not contributing enough against the teams that are good enough to shut him down. Like I wrote above, the better teams won't allow him his party tricks so he needs to contribute the basics like he did against Sydney and like he did in important games in 2007.
