What can we expect? Regarding ability to find target with his kicking? Tackling ability? etc

Excelent in and under player, plays the hard game very well. Disposal can be a little disapointing at times but still plays quite well. Should complement Roo & McLeod and make up for the loss of Stengline

Played well for Port Magpies on the weekend, 28 touches, 2 goals.

Saw that. Definently promising. Just wanted to get a feel as to how supporters of his ex club feel about him. The media and crows admin will always beat him up as they do every time we get a new player

Excellent player. Will pick up 15-20 possessions every week without dominating. His tackling and foot skills are fine.

Downsides are that he always gets injured, and lacks pace.

Glad he left though, in 40 games with us he NEVER played as well as Beamer did on Saturday night.

Demon supporters will probably tend to look past him now that Moloney has been so good early in his career with us.

Thompson was a very important player to Melbourne because we lacked in and under midfielders, and that's exactly what he is. He can get the hard ball and will pick up as has been said 15-20 touches a game.

Not likely to break a game open, and his foot skills can let him down, but I would gladly take him back for free.

Huge injury problems could hurt his career.

The above comments are spot on. I might add that I had earmarked him as a possible future captain before he decided to leave. So he should be a leader of the Crows in the years to come, provided he stays injury free and improves on his early 2004 form, which was good, consistant football.

You've just echoed the stock-standard "what do you think of Kane Johnson" answer that Crows people gave Richmond fans back in 2002/3 ;)

I beg to differ. being a cats supporter, I was/am a huge rap for beamer although I think the above quote is a little critical on thompson. thompson was very good for the d's especially in the first half of last year (prior to injury) and from memory was largely instrumental in getting the d's into a top 4 spot (until it fell apart). would think there would be at least three or four games last season where thompson performed as good as beamer did on sat'y night. I do not understand why you's let him go to be honest, albeit for trade. to me, he seemed like a very good in-and-under skillful player.

Trademark Thommo play: Picks the ball up one handed, breaks a couple of tackles, runs about 20 metres and kicks it forward.

Tough, loves the physical part of the game and always has a dip and is a team player.

Not fast, but not a plodder either.

Disposal good without being great.

He will be a very good addition to your midfield and I'm still sad at losing him.

We 'let him go' because he wanted to go home.

Yeah Thommo played lots of decent games for us, but I don't ever recall him absolutely dominating a game like Beamer did on Saturday night.

Thomo was one of my favourite players at Melbourne. He is a gun and will become one of the crows most importants players in a few years. Captaincy material. Good mark, good kick, great tackler and i would probably rather him to moloney but we will see. in saying all this i am still f****g disappointed he left us after he said he would never play for the crows and that he had settled in. He is a mummy's boy and injury prone and i hope beamer runs through him when we play you.
