Good to see the Hawks hve another win!

Was a scrappy game but we came away with the four points so i couldnt be happier right now!!

I personally thought the umpiring was pretty terrible today, for both teams, not just us, there was some obvious freekicks that both teams should have recieved but unfortunately didnt get em!!

Hopefully we can come up well next week because the guys would have to be absolutely buggered after playing in that heat!

As i have always said if you have a sleeping problem, watch Hawthorn play a match of football. I struggled to watch a quarter it was sooooooooooooooooooooooo boring. The only highlight was Barker illustrating how much of a w***er he is. The siren woke me up when i nodded off to sleep a few times.
But the main thing is you won although surely you want to play attractive football ???

Skill errors from both sides were shocking today - disposals went astray and there were a lot of fumbled and dropped marks. One would hope the heat would be a plausible explanation for poor concentration and poor skills.

John Barker is in the running for the "Dickhead Of The Year Award".

Nah Dan will win that for sure. Dan is way more consistent and performs day in day out. Maybe we should have a voting system fir this ??

or call it "Danhead of the Year award" in honour of Dan ???

Four quarters of utter tedium.

i was at the game but i was down the other side of the ground and didnt exactly see what john barker did, only that he got a free that turned into a goal and that there is quite a bit of controversy about it. could someone please explain what happened?
by the way, congrats to the hawks they deserved the win, all the hawks supporters can we not bicker anymore, the hawks are my second favourite team and please dont rub in the loss because im already feeling the pain

30+ heat, traveling interstate, playing at midday. Hell, i wouldnt expect four quarters of pure footy in those conditions from any team in the comp. We got out to a thirty point lead, nearly got reeled in and had only a three point buffer at one stage. Then in the final quarter when the (Victorian, read cold eastern state based mob) pressure was on and all the media comments were suggesting that Freo was going to run over the top of us. For us to increase our lead and win going away, well thats a very encouraging sign.

Another four points, unbeaten start to the year. Beat the Blues at home and a WA side very much with the elements in their favour.

Well, yea that will do nicely thanks, and who cares what anyone else thinks!

"Boring Hawthorn"

"Put me to sleep"

"Surely you want to play attractive football?"

I've heard all of these before somewhere. Ah yes, around fifteen years ago. We were pretty boring to opposition fans back then too, and I loved every single minute.

All of you claiming to be aesthetes of the game aren't fooling me - gold and brown are back in town, and don't you all hate it

He always complains when opposition teams do it but it seems its okay for his team to do it.

Patently incorrect - too much Dwayne Russell for you JubJub obviously. I'd also be most interested if you could provide one instance of Parkin complaining about other teams.

Parkin's "boring" quotes related to the demise of the one-on-one battle - he also said, quote: "the game is in danger of becoming boring" (emphasis added).

At no stage did he categorically state that the game is boring. Unfortunately, sensationalist no-hopers like Russell blew it out of proportion, while people like Sam Newman and Stan Alves, who bothered to listen/read and understand what Parko said, nodded their heads in agreement.

I agree hawkfan5. He was just showing a bit of character. To me it was the most interesting part of the game - not much else besides what Barker did was really of much interest.

Though, Johnny did state in today's Herald Sun that he's sorry for what he did, he was just a little hot headed after the small melee that had just occurred.
