VFL Game Day Scratch matches 2020

So clubs are allowed to have scratch matches in the 2's with certain restrictions:

1. Can only play teams based in the same state (So we can play the other Melbourne sides; Sydney and GWS are basically forced to play each other, and Adelaide, Brisbane, Freo, Gold Coast, Port and West Coast will play each other)
2. They want it to be aligned with AFL games where possible. Given that I'd expect us to play North in the first scratchy, since we're the only teams travelling interstate round 1
3. Must be played at AFL approved venues. So essentially they'll be curtain raisers for the most part, I'd expect the Hangar to be approved for those clubs travelling interstate as well
4. Clubs can organise time of quarters and how many players on the field. If two teams only have 10 players available though for example they can "merge" their sides to play a scratch match.
5. AFL umpires won't be used so each club can use a club umpire.
6. Like AFL it's closed to the public so no trying to sneak a peak.

So if we do play North in the first scratchy:

FB: Martin Gleeson - Brandon Zerk-Thatcher - Nick Bryan
HB: Ross McQuillan - Cian McBride - Kobe Mutch
MF: David Zaharakis* - Mitchell Hibberd - Brayden Ham
HF: Jayden Laverde - James Stewart - Josh Begley
FF: Irving Mosquito - Andrew Phillips - Ned Cahill
OB: Sam Draper - Matt Guelfi - Dylan Clarke
IC: Tom Hird - Henry Crauford

*I live in hope

We seem very short on defenders, so that's why I put Mutch and Bryan back there.

Okay, I'm guessing we'll want a match this week against the Demons. Given my changes in the seniors (McKenna, Ambrose for Zaka, Guelfi) maybe something like:

FB: Nick Bryan - Brandon Zerk-Thatcher - Matt Guelfi
HB: Martin Gleeson - Cian McBride - Ross McQuillan
MF: David Zaharakis - Jayden Laverde - Brayden Ham
HF: Josh Begley - James Stewart - Ned Cahill
FF: Irving Mosquito - Andrew Phillips - Henry Crauford
OB: Sam Draper - Dylan Clarke - Mitchell Hibberd
IC: Kobe Mutch*

*Pending fitness

As for them, they have 5 players out of 45 unavailable. Assuming the changes I also happen (Weideman, OMac, Pickett for Jones, Jackson, Smith) they might go something like:

FB: James Jordan - Austin Bradtke - Jay Lockhart
HB: Josh Wagner - Joel Smith - Michael Hibberd
MF: Oscar Baker - Kyle Dunkley - Corey Wagner
HF: Kade Chander - Mitch Brown - Tom Sparrow
FF: Charlie Spargo - Mitch Hannan - Toby Bedford
OB: Luke Jackson - Nathan Jones - Aaron van den Berg
IC: Kade Chandler

HF: Corey Wagner - Mitchell Brown - Charlie Spargo
OB: Andrew Phillips - Ned Cahill - Mitchell Hibberd - Dylan Clarke
OB: Austin Bradtke - Kyle Dunkley - Oskar Baker - Tom Sparrow
HF: Jayden Laverde - James Stewart - Josh Begley
HB: Jay Lockhart - Oscar McDonald - Kade Chandler
FF: Irving Mosquito - Henry Crauford - Nick Bryan
FB: Josh Wagner - Joel Smith - James Jordan

IC: Toby Bedford

Kobe mutch has a broken wrist

Sorry that was I meant to be replying to the other post
The one which was posted Sunday when we had no idea about the severity of the injury?

Assuming McKenna and Stewart can't play:

FB: McBride - Ambrose - Guelfi
HB: McQuillan - Zerk-Thatcher - Ham
OB: Phillips - Clarke - Hibberd
HF: Cahill - Bryan - Begley
FF: Mosquito - Crauford - Laverde

If they can, move Cahill into the midfield, Ham onto a wing. As for them:

FB: Cottrell - Macreadie - Goddard
HB: Stocker - Silvagni - O'Brien
OB: De Koning - Kennedy - Fisher
HF: Lang - O'Dwyer - Ramsay
FF: Polson - Moore - Honey
IC: Phillips - Owies

Even though scores won't be kept I'd expect to "win" this. Their key defenders are actually a pretty good height to deal with our key forwards at 196 (Silvagni) and 2x 198. Hell, I'd be tempted to test McBride forward this game.

Bryan and Crauford both in the rehab group according to a training report on Blitz

Not as if there's anything they can do about it, but bloody hell, hard for a 12-a-side game to prepare players for a step up to AFL.

Surely Hibberd and Laverde are a chance to come in.

Hibberd can replace Zerrett and one of Zaharakis/Snelling/Ham is replaced by Laverde as a forward target.

If we wanted to get adventurous bring in BZT and switch Hooker forward as well.

That was lowwww intensity.

Let's bring in Hibberd. Let's not promote Cahill as a forward target, allowing Snelling more on ball time.
