Tier 1 WW Player
So clubs are allowed to have scratch matches in the 2's with certain restrictions:
1. Can only play teams based in the same state (So we can play the other Melbourne sides; Sydney and GWS are basically forced to play each other, and Adelaide, Brisbane, Freo, Gold Coast, Port and West Coast will play each other)
2. They want it to be aligned with AFL games where possible. Given that I'd expect us to play North in the first scratchy, since we're the only teams travelling interstate round 1
3. Must be played at AFL approved venues. So essentially they'll be curtain raisers for the most part, I'd expect the Hangar to be approved for those clubs travelling interstate as well
4. Clubs can organise time of quarters and how many players on the field. If two teams only have 10 players available though for example they can "merge" their sides to play a scratch match.
5. AFL umpires won't be used so each club can use a club umpire.
6. Like AFL it's closed to the public so no trying to sneak a peak.
So if we do play North in the first scratchy:
FB: Martin Gleeson - Brandon Zerk-Thatcher - Nick Bryan
HB: Ross McQuillan - Cian McBride - Kobe Mutch
MF: David Zaharakis* - Mitchell Hibberd - Brayden Ham
HF: Jayden Laverde - James Stewart - Josh Begley
FF: Irving Mosquito - Andrew Phillips - Ned Cahill
OB: Sam Draper - Matt Guelfi - Dylan Clarke
IC: Tom Hird - Henry Crauford
*I live in hope
We seem very short on defenders, so that's why I put Mutch and Bryan back there.
