Sorry Gaz, I'm with BigSexc here. I don't want a player who'll leave for home after two years ala. Jeff White, or leave for money ala. hat ******** in the thread title whos name I'm struggling to actually type.

Unless he's committed and we're guaranteed, draft for me.

**Aside from the age comment/snipe**

Jaeger is a great name and all...
But surely Neeld and Crouch were meant to be at the same club??

Can't fight fate.

Drawing a pertty long bow to suggest O'Meara would leave if we drafted him.

My boss was giving me shit about hwsnbn leaving and when I told him I didn't care, he said what if he wins a brownlow one day. I feel really bad for saying this but I would wet myself laughing if he who shall not be named (as per my previous abreviation) won a brownlow one day and they do the toast at the end with all the champagne and he has a flute full of milk. Just thought it would be a touch embarrassing for him and funny for me.

Try get Gaff should he decided to come home and draft Viney next year, forget O'Meara.
I'm on the Gaff bandwagon too mate.

As rediculous as this sounds, BS has been pumping him up of late and I have to say he's got me on board.:thumbsu:

Gaff will probably cost us more in a trade than O'Meara, given he's under a contract. And apparently he's happy in WA.

If we can't get O'Meara to stay in Melbourne by the end of 2014, where are we going as a football club? If we're still not a top 4/6 side with a respectable culture, I honestly give up. Lets take a punt on the kid rather than let some other team do so and reap the rewards.

No he won't.

I went to bed last night, dreaming that Hawkins would have quiet one today . . .

He is what we need, a shit full forward that we can get cheap who is about to come of age. . .
But he just came of age. . .

Butcher would have been a good option. But after today I'm happy to just enjoy the development of the players we recruited through the draft. It worked for Geelong, who did they trade in? Barring Ottens.

Why do people continue with the "he'll want to go home" argument? It almost never happens, and is generally linked to lack of opportunity anyway - see Griffin to Freo last year. Gaff won't leave, and if we somehow manage to land O'Meara he won't leave either.
Remember how Adelaide fans were wetting their pants because they thought Trengove would go home? That worked well for them.

Gaff, Pendlebury = not available.
O'Meara = definitely available.
It's a no brainer.

Apart from Judd (who had won a Brownlow and captained a premiership) which great players have "gone home".

How bout Scott Thompson the first yr he played good footy for us
+ Nathan Buckley

Case in point. Buckley left Brisbane NOT to go home, but to come to Melbourne, where he wanted to play because it is the capital city of the AFL.

Less players leave Melbourne for their home state than those that leave other states to come to Melbourne.

Though I would say that this is more due to, before this year anyway, the fact Victoria has 10 teams compared to 6 (now 8).

Furthermore... the shrouded culture of WA is not to somes liking... Adelaide...well do I need to say anything... and Sydney and Brisbane is rugby based.
