You know that spitting on Dids would not have been cool. And we know that some wrongs of the past should never be repeated (if that ever did happen)...

Having travelled abroad and attended soccer games it strikes me that the great thing about AFL is how "family-friendly" and well behaved the crowds are. That's worth protecting mate.

What I have a problem with is hypocritical members of your supporter base who are first to cry "only a few bad apples" whenever a small number of your supporters does something untoward, but is all too happy to go after an entire opposition club when you cop it back from a few idiots.

So let me get this straight: you define bays upon bays of the Melbourne crowd as "a few idiots"? Didn't know that Melbourne fans agree that they have no supporters.

Melbourne seem to be one of the clubs we least respect ...

Carlton - we make a bit of a fuss over them and call them scum and all that stuff.
Essendon - goes without saying really.
Geelong - we don't have any choice after last year's GF.
St Kilda - how can we not respect a team we drew with in a GF and won against the following week?
Sydney - they've had success. Every year they have a crack at us at ANZ and we prevail.
Brisbane - beaten us twice in GF's in the last decade. There's the Leigh Matthews link there.
Richmond - there's some history there for those who were around in the 70's. Also got to respect a team that have pulled themselves off rock bottom.
Port Adelaide - the old SANFL magpies, our kid brother who grew up and went out into the real world.
Adelaide - New club that built themselves up out of nothing to be successful on and off the field.
West Coast - Ditto Adelaide. There's the Mick Malthouse link there.
Hawthorn - they're them and we're us. Doesn't matter how long your memory is, they've got the runs on the board, so respect there.
Western Bulldogs - definately punched above their weight in recent history.
North Melbourne - ditto Richmond, but perhaps to a lesser extent. Sav Rocca link. Were much stronger on field than off field.
Gold Coast - new club that aren't taking any shortcuts.
GWS - Eddie is throwing a bit of banter their way, so let's play along with it.
Freo - Perhaps not too much there.

... but Melbourne, they're just so "meh".

While I applaud your attempts to remain even handed you miss the point. Regardless of whether or not Collingwood, like all clubs has a few ferals, the sheer number of Melbourne supporters who joined in this disgusting behaviour is surely a blight on your club. I certainly don't agree that you can characterise all Melbourne supporters by them but Collingwood has made it clear that we don't and won't accept this kind of behaviour from our fans. Obviously you can't control everyone or everything and some of the stuff that some of our fans have been involved in on past occasions are an embarrassment. Is that a reason not to take issue when it is an opposition club's fans behaving poorly? Absolutely not! We don't excuse it from our own and we're certainly not going to excuse it from yours. In the end, I believe that Collingwood supporters calling for an end to the QB blockbuster are absolutely justified even if there's probably no way it will happen. Our club already more than pulls its weight in subsidising the smaller clubs and it seems ironic that a club like yours gets this massive leg up in the face of that kind of behaviour over the years.
