I’ve been pondering recently about Sean; and I have come to the conclusion that playing him forward is (maybe) the cause to so many of his shoulder injuries. Reason being - is when he leads - he creates so much momentum; and not being aware, crashes into defenders (that line him up) at high impact – causing injury.

To solve this problem… maybe the solution is to turn him into a full-back. There, Collingwood is able to utilize his strength, which is his speed, and free him from opposition defenders that crash into him. At full-back his much more aware - and is able to see what is coming.

Sean has adequate hight –being 190cm – and a strong build. Opposition forwards will find it difficult out-running him. As-well, he is able to use his great pace to rebound out of defence.

Mate, while everyone is entitled to their own opinions, the last couple of days you have created threads that have been inaccurate and pointless.

Rusling is NOT a FB and never will be. He will either make it as a forward or won't make it at all.

Excellent idea, as long as all opposition forwards promise to run only in straight lines.

Harsh but true really, more then any of our other potential fowards Rusling is foward or nothing. He has the turning circle of a small truck, Which is fine when he can lead in a straight line to create play but is no good when your chasing a smart foward with a good turning circle who will bend their lead and double back.

Totally agree

Speaking as much dribble as Wallsy and Mike

And we don't already have enough ~190 cm backmen pretending to be full backs when really they are only tall enough for a half back flank? See Maxwell, O'Brien, Cox, Goldsac, Anthony (if they send him to the backline as originally planned), Scott Reed will be another in that mould.

On your theory, Dawes and Anthony should be going down like nine pins. very similar players to Rusling and playing same role. It's just unlucky that he's shoulders keep getting crunched and opp players are probably looking for it a bit too.

this is stupid idea that im glad everyone on here are jst dumb and have to real lue about football they jst watch n bag people n think maybe he can play there when really people u all hav no idea...rusling is a FULL FORWARD AND THATS THAT god people stop creating stupid idea RUS will be FF for the next decade u watch he will be right next year and fit and firing!!!

Is English your second language by chance? Or is it not a language that you speak at all?

Rhyce Shaw should play ruck.

PML....so true...lol
I think the recent victory has been overly celebrated....some of tonights posts a rippers.
I have the feeling that "The Clokes" may not be all "they" seem....maybe a bit of "oppo shitstirrer's in sheeps clothing" judging from the bulk of their posts.

Nope!

If anyone is to go back, it will be John Anthony. He was recruited as a defender, played as a defender in the VFL and is only playing forward as we were short on key forwards and we wanted to get him into the team.

I know people think of him as a 3rd tall flanker type but his stats on the Collingwood website show him at the same height and weight as Wakelin and only a centimetre shorter than Presti so can and will play KPB for us.

I think the suggestion was just a little off....how about Ben Reid to CHB? He's got height athleticism and if he whacks on the kilos should be pretty good in the contested area. I think he could play a similar role as Jarrad Waite type CHB.

Steady down everyone

Rusling has attributes that could make him a backman, virtually every forward does. Speed, strength and good hands are not a bad start.

I want to see him make it as a forward but the suggestion isnt without merit especially in the short term.

The idea that you guys sitting on a keyboard can out and out say he could not fill that role is laughable.

His biggest challenge is to return to where he was and stay sound. I just hope he fills his great potential because it would be sad to see him miss out on the career he deserves.

You my friend are a clown. What people have said is very true regardless of where they said it from. Have you seen Rusling's turning circle. His top speed is brilliant and I doubt I'd be able to turn if I was that quick and that size, The fact is all a foward would have to do to loose Rusling is make a decent dummy lead and then double back. Rusling is nowhere near mobile enough to play fullback. Fowards would almost quiet literally run rings around him.
