My attempt at a review of our players this season.

Jaeger O'Meara - Disastrous year injury wise, just hope he can come back from it for 2016

Zac Smith - While others developed he seemed to stand still. Passed as No 1 ruck and still keeps getting too easily out muscled by other rucks. Future seems elsewhere so would be surprised to see him at Metricon in 2016

Jack Martin - Injuries during 2015 curtailed him but oozes talent and seems to be able to do things bigger players do. Averages a goal a game so looking for a big 2016

Jarrod Harbrow - Seemed to be injured almost all season, so plenty of heart to get the number of games he did. Gets the ball a lot but turns it over too many times. Won't happen but I would try and trade.

Alex Sexton - Showed he had something to offer but not sure if he is a first stringer.

Nick Malceski - Looked injured, lost, out of form and horribly over-priced. If not injured early in the year should have been dropped. 2016 must be substantially better.

Luke Russell - Another one of the throng of injured players, 2016 will be make or break for Luke.

Gary Ablett - 2014 injuries robbed him of another Brownlow and in 2015 they may have robbed him of any Brownlow votes. 2016 can't be worse!

Dion Prestia - Injury cruelled his year. Gun who I am looking for a big 2016.

Harley Bennell - Much has been written about Harley but not enough about him on field. I hope we keep him as he did start to seem to be working much harder. Please do not trade!

Sam Day - Sam needs the club to decide they want to keep him and play him in a position for a run of games. He keeps being plugged in to fill holes and there were plenty in 2015. Expect a big year in 2016

Andrew Boston - Showed me something that I didn't think he had and no it wasn't that ugly moustache! Had injuries from 2014 and his comeback was slow but I think he showed enough in 2015 to be very hopeful for 2016

Mitch Hallahan - Seemed to be out of favour with Rocket early but showed real talent. Another whose season was ruined by injury but plenty to look forward to in 2016 with the elite midfield talent to comeback.

Daniel Gorringe - Alway have had a soft spot for Dan and I hope wherever he plays next year he makes a go of it. Maybe he will be part of the Dixon trade to Port.

Rory Thompson - Another who battled injury most of the year and looking forward to better in 2016

Steven May - A real leader who plays with passion. Got a MRP howler early but one of our best all year

Trent McKenzie - Despite playing most games, I wondered whether he was fit for most of the year?

Tom Lynch - Heart and soul of the side. Obvious leader, future captain and someone who we will build our team around for 10+ years. Worth the admission price just to see him and his football brain at work!

Henry Schade - Henry was a beneficiary from the club's injury toll. Came in and played well on bigger, more talented and more experienced opponents. Looking forward to further development in 2016

Jack Leslie - Didn't see too much of Jack but one for the future

Tom Nicholls - Seemed to grow another leg this year and went ahead in leaps and bounds. Clearly our No 1 ruck and much to look forward to in 2016.

Charlie Dixon - Could do with a Nicholls' approach of growing another leg or at least good ankles. Will be at Port next year and it will be interesting to see what deal we get and how much Charlie will improve with a different conditioning and fitness team.

David Swallow - Injuries cruelled his year and if it wasn't for all our other midfield injuries I wonder whether he would have played at all this year? Looking forward to having him back next year maybe on half back with Kolodjashnij on the wing.

Danny Stanley - Another who struggled with injury so 2016 can't come soon enough

Matt Shaw - Solid but not outstanding year

Clay Cameron - Another young player looking for a better 2016

Kade Kolodjashnij - A revelation this year. Played much better than his age and experience indicated he should and was one of the consistent leaders of the team backs. Will place in the Club Champion award and deservedly so.

Peter Wright - We did get a sneaky look at what the future holds for the Suns when injuries meant that 2 metre Peter got a run. Still raw but great talent!

Brandon Matera - Mid year I was calling for Brandon to be traded but he has proved me wrong and has really worked hard on and off the ground. 2015 may be the making of this talented player.

Aaron Hall - I was all for trading Aaron until injuries meant that he got a run through the mid field. He seemed to grow a leg there and put on a purple patch - far better than I though him capable of. At times it seems his body gets him to places before his brain arrives but his development was exciting.

Michael Rischitelli - Despite injuries and carrying them, it was almost Michaels best year at the Suns. His leadership and passion in the absence of Ablett was outstanding.

Jesse Lonergan - Standout year for Jessie and the start of many more as a key for the Suns

Sean Lemmens - Someone who seems to have the physique of a string bean but plenty of talent there and a great year.

Jarrod Garlett - One of our new players who oozes class but crippled by injury. Came back sooner than expected to confirm the wrap. If you haven't seem his NEAFL mark chase it up it is well worth the effort.

Touk Miller - One of the highlights of our season as Touk showed his talent and class. In a team not so injury ravaged he would have been rested a coupe of extra times.

Josh Hall - Not hard to see Joshs' high jumping pedigree as he lined up a leap in one of his few matches for the year. Didn't take the grab but plenty to like for the future.

Seb Tape - Started the journey back from 3 years of horrors with injury.

Andrew Raines - Journeyman recruited to bolster the NEAFL side who ended up playing a number of games in the senior side where he didn't just make up the numbers.

Keegan Brooksby - Showed good signs coming into the team as a seasoned player

Joshua Glenn - Another who showed signs in limited opportunities

Greg Broughton - Re drafted as a Rookie in 2015, his body called time on his career early in the 1st quarter against the Swans.

Adam Saad - One of the great feel good stories of the Suns and the AFL in 2015. After finding himself overlooked in drafts he played in the VFL. He was a revelation for the Suns until injury cut him down. The run, the dash, the passion and the obvious enjoyment of someone who plays every minute like it was his last was a highlight for the year.

It's sad to see foundation players leaving the club
but the Gold Coast Suns desperately need success.
This off season is incredibly important for the future of the Suns
I have my fingers crossed that the decision makers at the club will
make the right moves in order for the Suns to be title contenders.

McKenzie has just lost all confidence and the belief in himself, not sure he can get it back, seems time to move him on and Matt Shaw just drives me crazy in how damaging he is to US, almost every decision he makes turns it over and usually costs us momentum or a goal. He is an absolute shocker for handballing immediately regardless of who it's to or whether the recipient is hot. I have the laser on him at every game like I used to with Joel Wilkinson because I cannot understand how they keep playing him, he is really costly to us. Even when he marks in the clear he almost always trots back a mile stops and waits until every loose player is manned up and then gets himself tied up in knots because there is no loose man. I think he has had plenty of time and shown a lot more promise, run and carry earlier in his career so let's move him on too

The Rising Star is a sham

Cripps' stats were significantly more impressive than Hogan and if they were voting 3-2-1 or any other voting method that took into account consistent performance he would have pantsed Hogan. Cripps may as well not even have played this year if they were just going to give it to Hogan no matter what because he is a young KP player.

Having said all that if you put them up against a wall and ask me who I want to build a team around for next 10 years, its Hogan no doubt (GCS was the only other team to have an opportunity to get him and got Jack Martin instead - Martin is uber talented but you can't build around him the way you can Hogan - a Lynch/Hogan combo OMG).

If its based on the season its Cripps. Looks like the AFL didn't want a repeat of when Palmer beat Rioli because he had a better year and not because he was a better player.

Disclaimer - I had money on Cripps

Touk miller Ripped off.
Not even in top 4.

Played every game.
Top 3 in pressure acts in the league..
In a poor side.

Yet Isacc Heeny plays 12-13 games and comes third in a top 4 side. Pfft
The others are lucky that Heeney missed a few games. Extraordinary talent.

Jesse Hogan looked to me like the best first year forward I've ever seen

Leadership, on-field presence, 'magic' goals, beating seasoned opponents, he seemed to have it all from the get go.

Never a contest for mine.
He's good alright. 2 extra pre seasons in the gym definitely helped him.
