Is Matthew Hammelman still on the list? He was signed just before the season was shutdown.

This is a great pick up but surprising at the same time - there was talk he would be joining his brother at Port. Wonder if McRae had anything influence on the signing?

Box Hill Hawks coaching panel finalised.

Seems like a good team. Don't know much about the others, but great to give Sam a go at leading, have Andy to back him up, and welcoming Youngy back (mentor for Downie!?).

That’s a very good team of coaches with a lot of experience within stand alone clubs, as well as VFL premiership programs. Excited to see what level of development we can achieve with some of the youngsters in 2021.

My biggest concern with Sam is if he has a successful season in 2021, he may get given a godfather offer to coach in the AFL in'22.
Very impressed with his dictation to the young fellas there.

Don't suppose anyone knows if these rules brought in for 2020 will apply to 2021?

Summary of VFL rules changes:
  • VFL clubs will have a development list introduced, made up of 19-year-old players.
  • All clubs will be required to play 23 players per match, which will include 1 x 19-year-old development player and 1 x under-21 player (i.e traditional 23rd player).
  • List structures for 2020 will be as follows:
    • Non-AFL clubs can list up to 46 players, including 40 x primary listed players and 6 development list players.
    • AFL aligned clubs can list up to 36 players, including 30 x primary listed players and 6 x development list players.
    • AFL clubs can list up to 30 players, including 24 x primary list players and 6 x development list players.
  • An additional rookie list of two players is available to all VFL teams which will include NGA players and players who meet the AFL category B Rookie criteria.
  • A father/son rule will be introduced in 2020 which allows a club to list a player whose father played 100 games or more for the club (including AFL and AFL aligned clubs). These players will be listed on a club’s development list.
  • Aside from current finals eligibility rules, no other playing restrictions will apply in the finals series.

VFL lists will need to be larger if anything, to account for the AFL side's reduction.

Would love to see us sign Harry Jones after he was delisted however wouldn't be surprised to see him sign with a standalone club or head to the SANFL or WAFL.

There would also be some romance if we could snare Billy Gowers.

it is completely false economy all these changes. AFL Footy dept cut by 30%, but when did you ever see six or seven coaches at box hill (happy to accept if I’m wrong)

Coburg do a really nice job as well

Notice a few former Box Hill boys on that list as well - Exxon, McEvoy, Boucher, Nelson

ex-Bulldogs Fergus Greene and Callum Porter to Box Hill Hawks

Still plenty of options open to us on the recruiting front - would love to see Harry Jones and Billy Gowers done at Box Hill City Oval.

Shaping up as an exciting comp with you throw the interstate teams in as well.
