From the Cats fixture board earlier in the week:-

Couldn't think of a better way to kick off the season - traditional 2.10pm Saturday timeslot, the weather should be still mild/warm at the time of year, opponent is a big drawing club (which will help with the $$$ being our "home" game)

Literally the next post after the fixture was released today (from a mod no less):-

What was the BS reason why Richmond after winning a premiership couldn't travel down the highway for our home match?

Just curious because current premiers Melbourne & fellow grand finalist Western Bulldogs, both have trips down the highway next season..

First 10 rounds looks like a 5-5 start IMO if we’re talking realistically. Maybe something like:

Wins: GWS, Western Bulldogs, Collingwood, Hawthorn and Essendon.

Losses: Carlton (about time), St Kilda, Adelaide, Melbourne and West Coast.

The optimist in me says that we can go 8-2 with Melbourne and some other random team being our losses. No reason to start crap this year with no finals

One sh*t year and we get dumped.
FMD.
Least the AFL don't hide the fact that they've been after us since 17.
Seriously, Carlton kept getting Friday night games in their spoon years and we get taken off prime time in most weeks after not winning a Premiership one year…

We won’t lose to Carlton (although they’re due) or Adelaide (if we do we’re cooked completely). If we bounce back as expected we should take care of the Eagles as well.

And the joke out of afl hq is that the media has rated the socks with the 9th hardest draw. Make a prelim and then get an armchair ride the next year. Where is the equality????
