Fixture Season 2022 - Full AFL Fixture in OP

No you were referring to handouts.

I’m referring to compensation for a commercially unviable fixture.

Melbourne clubs free to air

North - 1

Next closest is three clubs on 4

No round 1 home game in Melbourne’s festival of football. But that’s ok because we follow it up with West Coast at marvel
Team that finished last receives a poor commercial fixture. In other news, water is wet.

North have not played Carlton twice in a season since 2007.

Collingwood finished second last, what’s their draw like?
No idea, haven't looked that closely. Are you saying as the team who finished last, you deserve a good commercial fixture?

I have been going on about this for a while actually that the lack of quality Free to Air games and time slots for North Melbourne has been a disgrace and reeks of an agenda or vendetta by the AFL against North for refusing to relocate to the Gold Coast

Now granted most teams that win the spoon (except for Carlton oddly) don't get many FTA/prime time games the following season, but normally most still get more than 1 and North have been screwed by lack of decent FTA games for years (esp home games)

I totally get why you and the rest of the Shinboner faithful are pissed.
And it's time Ben Buckley publicly made a stir about it.

It's annoying how they do that these days.

And the double ups for all clubs should be rotated/changed every season.

As a Carlton I am very pleased with our draw, but as a general footy fan, it's a commercial/TV network first fixture once again, fairness and equality doesn't come into it

I agree, also from the point COVID may very well play a role in the 2022 season. It should be standard practice or fixturing that you play everyone once first.

Oh my apologies. I'll rephrase.

But you're debt free? Probably time to stop begging for compensation.

Do you not agree that North's lack of quality Free to Air and Prime Time TV slots makes it harder for them to make a profit/revenue than practically every other Melbourne/Vic based club ?
They don't deserve or asking for a compo handout (least at board level) but I don't think it's unfair for them to try ask the question from an administration level for a bit more FTA/prime time TV games ?
The trouble is, knowing what a control freak Gil is, if they did that, North would likely lose their prized Good Friday game slot, which is about the only bone the league has thrown them in a decade or two ?

This is why I totally understand North fans venting about this here.

I would say that the nmfc fixture for 2022 is the worst commercial fixture ever received by a Melbourne team.
You didn't answer the question
Essendon won the 2016 spoon in disgrace with drug sanctions.

Yet kicked off 2017 with a home games against Hawthorn, Collingwood, Melbourne and Geelong
Was waiting for this. We also had a shitload of Sunday 4:40 games

You didn't answer the question

Oh you were waiting for it!!

Check mate then.

To answer your question, no i don't believe that the team that finished last should get a "good" commercial fixture. But we also shouldn't get the worst commercial fixture ever bestowed on a Melbourne based team.

Clearly Essendon weren't given a terrible fixture to start 2017 after finishing last and bringing the game into disrepute

Essendon home games in Melbourne after finishing last with 3 wins and a drug scandal

Essendon vs Hawthorn (Sat night MCG)

Essedon vs Collingwood (Anzac day)

Essendon vs Melbourne (1:10 sunday Marvel)

Essendon vs Geelong (Sat night MCG)

North home games in Melbourne after finishing last with 4.5 wins on the back of record membership and becoming debt free despite the clear fixture disadvantages we get

North vs West Coast (Sunday 1:10 Marvel)

North vs Bulldogs (Good friday)

North vs Melbourne (Marvel TBC)

North vs GWS (Marvel TBC)

(Finish off the year playing sydney and gold coast at Marvel)

ALSO CAN YOU PLEASE CLARIFY WHAT A "SHITLOAD" OF "4:40 SUNDAY GAMES" MEAN? I CAN'T SEE 1 4:40 HOME GAME THAT ESSENDON PLAYED IN 2017. North seemed to have more 4:40 sunday home games than Essendon in 2017 as far as i can see.

So you agree that fan numbers aren't the determining factor? That was what i was disputing.
Once your team starts winning again, you'll get a better fixture. Winning spoons + Low club support = Not as lucrative fixture. It's really not that difficult.

Stop demanding compensation because you currently have a bottom of the ladder team nobody will go to see or tune in for. The AFL isn't a charity that owes your club something.

Ummm actually when the afl sets the fixture and favours certain clubs over others, literally limiting the amount of money a club can make, said club deserves compensation.

I’m not talking about a small discrepancy.

I’m talking about an abyss of difference in commercial fixturing.

Really think that there should be parity in terms of the commercial quality of fixtures. If we don’t give the weaker clubs good time slots they’ll never have the opportunity to gain more fans.

That being said I understand the bottom teams getting worse fixtures in that sense but it’s clear that that rule doesn’t apply to big clubs.

We were scheduled to play you twice in 2020 before Covid hit. Would like one of our home games against you to be at the G'. Sick of these Marvel "home" games against teams that play majority of their games at Marvel.

You know what I laugh at - every time someone goes on about Carlton and Friday Night football.

How far back do those numbers go? Given you’ve got a column for “defunct” and the last team to exit the comp was Fitzroy in 1996 I’m guessing they go back a fair way.

How many Friday night games a team got in 1992 isn’t really relevant these days. North are third on your table because they were the kings of Friday night footy in the 90s, I doubt many of those 146 appearances have come in the last decade.

I wonder how many of Carlton's 90 have come in the last few years.
