yeah i agree 19 per game seems very low for someonw who is the highest

286 also seems too high though! it says it is based on kicks only. he has 22 a game. he usually has what 6-7 kick ins at a minimum? they can't go backwards. so he has 15 kicks left. 10 of those would need to travel backwards an average of 28.6m which is a) a long way backwards and b) two thirds of his in-play kicks. in my mind's eye he kicks aggressively forward quite a lot...

the article is very unclear. it mentions neale is the leader for total negative metres - presumably mostly running and handballs?
They mentioned number of kicks and also meters gained but they are two separate things. Then the Neale stat.

I think the article was just something someone mentioned over a beer somewhere and they went with it.
Gives them something to write about.

I do like stats but i think Champion Data just have to many
If they were done correctly according to their glossary i doubt a human could get anywhere near the correct numbers.
Even combining humans and computers which they most likely do i doubt it is correct.
But it does give us a good guide on the basic 10-12 player stats.
The basic team stats are probably correct also.
In the below Glossary there are 172 stats and their meaning. Then you have to interrupt that meaning.
The biggest time gap in the game is between goals scored. The rest of the time something is happening

They charge Clubs and media a fortune and there is no one to fat check their figures.

When you think that BF posters can argue for a week on should a player be suspended after seeing the replay over and over.

Pretty remarkable to see Zorko is now just 8 games shy of the 300 milestone. Assuming he continues to play every home and away game this year, that 300 milestone just so happens to be the round 24 clash against Hawthorn at the Gabba. I believe he'll be the fourth Queenslander to hit 300 VFL/AFL games after M.Ashcroft, J.Akermanis and N.Riewoldt.

After starting as late as he did, it would be a pretty massive achievement.

A couple of other milestone games that day as well. 🤞

Maybe add Michael Voss to the list
EDIT: Not quite, being 289 but he probably gets AFL life membership like Zorko already has in 300 AFL sanctioned games
Adding in AFL coaching he qualifies in other arears
He is in the AFL hall of fame so that's close enough

Can i assume these players had a little help to finish all on 300 games

I tapped out after about 3 weeks this year. Jay Clack was the final straw.

Kingy spent 10min telling us why Freo are bad and put up a graphic which made no sense relative to what he was saying to the point where I’m questioning my sanity. Jay Clark then just talking contracts zzzzz

See kingy talking incomprehensibly over an irrelevant graphic is what first crack is about. Clack bringing everything back to traids is so so boring.

Whats the bet that during the segment on our game Clack will reference that Zac is a free agent next year?

Where did they dig up that Jay Clark from ?

Then you've got that other urger on Channel 7 who pretends he's breaking news every 5 minutes.

I realise writing and talking about AFL is at the very low end of career choices for any journalist with talent.

It sucks but traid stories get clicks. I've given up on the hope that it won't be covered so breathlessly.

But can we try focus on the actual football from time to time? Like - a review show on a sunday night can just focus on footy. Mitch Cleary should not be asking players about their contract while doing post-game interviews.

SEN has done a great analysis on how Brisbane has drastically changed their gameplan in the last 6 weeks. Brisbane in 2023 and 2024 were one of the slowest teams to goal and one of the least aggressive teams to goal, however, in the last 6 weeks, they have jumped to the 4th most aggressive team to goal in the comp. It's the biggest change that they have recorded in mid-season. Kudos to Fagan and CO, because even though we were winning games early on in the year, every key metric had us as a mid table team with a performance that couldn't stand up in september anymore. I kept saying this, and the stats backed it up. Fagan obviously saw this and decided to change things up, which is why we have looked significantly better recently. The way we have been playing recently is something new, which will catch a lot of teams by surprise, and it could help us potentially chase down another flag. Something i thought we couldn't do this year.
