If at seasons end McAullife, Lalor, and Smillie have become regular AFL players I’ll be doing cartwheels. Probably take 2 of the 3.
Trainor will play plenty of football off hb.

Can’t wait to see Hotton in the 2nd half of the year, even if it’s in the 2s.

Longer wait for our KPP, but would be happy to see a couple of Sims/Faull/Armstrong/ Fawcett debut. Right now I feel Sims has the size and athleticism to play some AFL games.

Think Brown will have a very good year. Gray a wildcard.

Miller, Ryan and Dow will confirm what we all know.

At seasons end We’ll have pick 1 and probably pick 2-4 in the ND, and have had 3 rising star nominations.

Looking forward to the season.

As hard as it is there’s really no point taking any notice of the scoreboard until after the bye.

Reason being, the following players for reason of injury, suspension, being underdone or natural development won’t make much if any impact pre-bye, but will hopefully be fully fit and firing post bye and will be part of our best-23:

Prestia

So there’s 10 x players who I see as best-23 players and perhaps none are going to play Round 1.

So don’t panic pre-bye … post-bye will tell us more and I expect a much better second half of season.

Then add 2 more top-5 picks in this years draft and we’ve got the core of a Premiership team for sure.

A bit of fire and energy from the coach would not go astray either - I know we have a young and inexperienced group that needs to be carefully and thoughtfully developed but the gently gently vibe coming from Yze worries me a little.

Nothing wrong with setting high expectations. If Benny Gale didn't all those years ago, we wouldn't have 3 flags, wouldnt have more than 75k members and would be saddled with debt.

I don't mind if Ooze wants to give Dow a go on the wing. The bloke is on his last chance and there's no doubt he is in good shape and can run so why not ? It's a year for trying all sorts of things.

Just play him in the VFL on the wing for three or four weeks and if he kills it, demands a spot, sure he's earned his way into the side.

I just don't see any football aggression in him and until he finds a real edge to his game and can maintain a very strong run of form he shouldn't be in the seniors.

Ditto Sonsie although he's likely to get a start.

I'd like to see MRJ build a run of form in the VFL also. Play him midfield and get him the fittest he's ever been then he'd be a potential weapon. He's still only 21 and just needs to get used to having the ball in his hands and using his speed to break away. He can't just live on defensive pressure alone. Believe Maurice ! Believe ! Take the step lad...

It won't hurt McAuliffe to do it the hard way. Pretty sure he's been carrying something for a few weeks. His time will come, it's only R1 of a long season.

Very exciting to hear caesar's report about the pure class shown by Lalor in today's match sim. Seeing him up close v WC the kid has an aura about him and loves the physical stuff. Looks a player you can build a team around to me.

After waiting 37 years to sit on top of the pile for a dynasty three flag era, it was worth it. It's worth a bit of pain now to rebuild it with a strong foundation. Watching these kids grow is going to be awesome !
