Hello and welcome all to Round 8: Heritage Round. In Season 26 we explore the City of Sweet and delve into stories behind some of the historical venues that have shaped the culture of the league and by extension Sweet. This week the Gold City Royals are clashing with the Alberton/Sin City Swamprats in Sweet's jewel in the crown stadium. Dun Lop Stadium being the marquee venue with the largest ground capacity at 45,500 seats, located within Dun Lop Parklands that surrounds Sweet FA HQ in the heart of the central business district of Sweet. It hosted grand finals in Season 11, 12 and 13.

Dun Lop Stadium circa S11-13

Following changes in grand final venue arrangements following this period, Dun Lop Stadium was left largely unoccupied resulting in the Sweet council drastically reducing capacity, eventually leaving the ground as a venue solely for local festivals, fairs and junior Qooty carnivals in the subsequent years. However, as time progressed Sweet experienced a population boom, with technological advancements and drastic improvements in infrastructure led to urbanisation as Hindeallan people from across the nation came to Sweet in search of economic prosperity. Coupled with growing tourism from neighbouring Ibarawa and Carmanta, the city of Sweet soon began attracting large acts that required a venue with sufficient capacity to host. In Season 19 shortly following the successful expansion of the Sweet FA to 12 clubs once again, the Hindeallan government granted a subsidy for the redevelopment of the ground that will make it once again the jewel in the crown stadium planned to be completed by late Season 21.

Redevelopment of Dun Lop Stadium

During the Sweet FA off-season of Season 21-22, Dun Lop was finally re-opened as a Qooty ground when it hosted the grand final of the Sweet Provincial Championships where a packed house went to see the Central City Greens defeat the Southern Bay Silvers. Since then, there has been no official Sweet FA Qooty games played at Dun Lop as it remained a venue for concerts, festivals, International Tests hosted by the Hindeallan Qricket team among other special events. This Season 26, Round 8 clash between the Royals and Swamprats sets to mark the first official Sweet FA match played at Dun Lop since its redevelopment with tickets sold out within days of the fixture being released.

Players To Watch :

Gold City Royals
League administrator Cloud_ was best on ground last time the teams met polling the three Mobbs votes and kicking the winning goal in tense game at The Golden Throne. After missing the game against the Warriors the Royals will certainly need a strong return to marshall the defense at centre half back.

Royals ruckman GreyCrow coming off an All-SFA season is putting together some good form in the ruck as he was clearly best on ground for the Royals last week against the Warriors winning the duel against the in-form Freofalcon.

Sin City Swamprats
It's game number 300 for last season's Fred Medallist Dingster. He's been out of touch to start the season with only 19 goals thus far and in 10th spot in the goal kicking leaderboard. If the Swamprats are to overturn their poor record against the Royals and repeat a surge towards finals like last season they will need Dingster to get going.

Young Swamprat rookie Nunez has shown plenty of potential this season, kicking two goals at critical stages against the Wonders before being benched. In a high stakes game on the big stage he'd be hoping to get more minutes on the field.

Absolutely outstanding work this! Truly inspiring.

I do have one question though.

Was this an IBM created thread or a Windows 3.1 created thread?

Clod crafted this on the IBM PCJr at Sweet HQ then collapsed from exhaustion.

I'm not surprised to be honest and I'm glad to know it was only an IBM!

I was worried that he might've had to use Enigma which was a code-breaking machine in order to generate the thread :p

Good afternoon Royals and Blacky. I hope you're all having nice days and are ready to cop a verbal whacking then a physical whacking come Sunday.

Obviously we need to pay tribute to Dingster's 300th game this week and welcome to what promises to be a fantastic week.

Now, we all know the secret to beating the Royals is to render Blacky a non-entity #noblackynoroyals

Oh and also, remember at all times to #sackantbear

Besides that, gamble responsibly.

I would make a comment about your ability, but I wouldn’t know due to your lack of importance.

Pfft. Based off your seductive PMs I'd say you think I'm pretty important.

Edit: my bad, that was BRAB
