Well, I don't think we were expecting to see this match-up outside of the Grand Final.
It's second at home to first as the two most dominant teams of the home and away season, the Ophidian Old Boys and the Gold City Royals, clash in Spotswood.
Journey of the Old Boys
The OOBs comfortably accounted for the Swamprats in their qualifying final. myblueroan was the standout player of the day, with 104 DT points from a 23 disposals, with 5 tackles at 3 goals to boot. Harvey Manfrenjensenden also starred with 7 snags, and Robertio picked up 32 disposals en route to 109 DT points.
Journey of the Royals
The Royals must've been cursing their hubris, as they cockily strode into their qualifying final against the Roys, only to completely fall apart in the third quarter. Zevon and GreyCrow tried to pump up the midfield, but it was game over.
Their mettle was tested again in the semis, with a rollercoaster of a match against the Bears. With the lead constantly see-sawing between the sides, it was Smartys Power who saved the day with a late goal that gave the Royals some breathing space with seconds on the clock.

Phenom's Big Call
If the Royals want to make some history, they need to kick it to Brenton Davy. He's just 6 goals away from being the first player to kick 90 goals in a season since Proper Gander in Season 31.
However on Brenton's end, he needs to correct his accuracy issues pronto. If he wants to make even more history by becoming the first player to crack the ton in over 20 seasons, he needs 16 goals in 2 games. It's not impossible, but he won't be doing it if he kicks like he has been during this finals series.
