During Heritage Week, the Baghdad leadership have been researching a bit of our history with DemurePrincess‘s invaluable assistance.

The current day Baghdad Bombers entered the Sweet Football Association back in Season 04, under the moniker the 'BigFooty Bombers'. The club joined the competition as a restricted to supporters of (the AFL Bombers), under the captaincy of Sweet F.A legend, dougthelegend

The club moved in Season 08 from Windy Hill to Abdu Prison, and introduced 'Baghdad' into their name in Season 09

Abdu Prison is the home ground of the Baghdad Bombers. The same prison also once hosted a team called the "Correctional Facility Staff Social League" which was later renamed the Mod Squad

The team sprung out of the Abu Grange suburb where Abdu Prison sits.

We changed the suburb name from Abu Ghraib to Abu Grange in an acknowledgment that warcrimes were committed during the Iraq War in Abu Ghraib.

The old grandstand was repurposed as a viewing area for the Arrowlad Archery Centre
