It'd be great if our defence could actually hit a spoil or keep someone down for the inevitable out the back spill

Yeah need to involve her more and use her pace.
Days like these, we need our better players all around the play.

I would play 2 forwards Daisy (smarts) and Mithen (quick thinker and reflexes) around her, to capitalise on ground balls. Wet weather footy...

Our game is trying to control things footy... and Daisy is built that way, as well.

Wet weather footy, try to play a controlling game, at your peril.

We need to play instinctive footy, on days like these.
Agree, the message from the Lions coach at 3QT was what we needed - just get it forward and pressure the bejesus out of them to keep it there.

Early days, but does seem a bit like that. Brisbane just too good all over the ground, no weak links.
Yep. They will finish top and have a home final which gives us little chance. They look the far superior side this season. Starting to get frustrating watching a good team but not winning anything. Time will tell but each season has been pretty predictable and this looks eerily similar.

To me, all QLD teams look lilke they are on the march. Men and Women.

The GCSuns are finally starting to improve. As are the Suns VFL team, playing off last week against SouthPort sharks.

The Brissie Lions women have looked like getting somewhere since last year, and look like continuing their rise. They are superior athletes, with speed, agility, and are learning their footy as well.

The Lions AFL men's team should be doing better by now, and I put that down to plateauing, under Fagan.

Lions look the team to beat so far . More skillful below the knees than us . Look a lot fitter too.
Wouldn't be surprised if Gay misses next week again with something, she was barely going faster than a walk at times in the last.
On the positive side, both games against Adelaide last season we never had any real control of the game at any point. Today we at least had long stretches of control, but didn't convert enough. Worrying that we couldn't stop them when they got a run on. Some of the goals given up in the last were very soft by us. Gillard, Birch, Wilson etc had a s**t day in the air, outmarked or let it get out the back too easily.
