Had the season launch at Crown today, Ross spoke and was his usual upbeat self and does give the impression he can see the club moving in the right direction. Did mention the time for talking is over though and they needed to see that come into fruition on the field.

Troy Cook unveiled the new indigenous jersey which he designed, very impressive design and great to see an ex player given that opportunity.

Mundy spoke about getting AFL life membership and what it meant to him, seemed really keen to have that 300th happen at Optus in round 6. Said a lot of family will be coming over.

Leadership group spoke briefly with nothing earth shattering mentioned. Fyfe did state he did a 10km match sim on Sunday with contact and is perfectly positioned for round one.

Overall a positive atmosphere as you would expect and the general consensus is improvements should be coming very soon.

Walters was asked where he believes his best position in. Said he enjoys both but Fyfe coming back into the midfield will allow him to spend more time forward. Fyfe also said with the forward depth now it will allow Mundy and himself to spend more time in the midfield and not rest forward.

Fyfe singled out Switkowski and Banfield in his press conference as two players to watch this season. Once we have a full team, those 2 + Walters should be a good smaller contingent to support the talls. Just need to get on top of injuries although that is a lot easier said than done!
If Schultz isn't in the planning being mature aged, then we have wasted a pick.

There is no way you can pick up and retain 45 best 22 players - by necessity you need to have quite a few depth players. If every player we picked up was best 22 they would be leaving in droves through lack of opportunity.

Not saying we couldn't have done better with some of our picks, but every team has lots of depth players and you just can't get a star with every pick.

Then Ross comes up and says Fyfe's playing full back, Walters in the ruck and Ballas and Colyer our two KPF's.

Just Ross things.

I hope that they don't abandon the idea altogether. Both Fyfe and Mundy are such a weapon when they periodically go forward and it mixes things up. Keep the defenders on their toes.

Hopefully they drift forward when the opportunity arises - I think this is where they can both be most dangerous.

Halla-fking-lujah!

Fyfe is the best midfielder in the comp and Walters is a 40+ goal forward. Let's play it that way.

The more dangerous our forward line is the more cautious the opposition must play in the back half.

Go Banners! Depending on where injuries force him to play, I really think he is going to make a good pressure forward/mid who will hit the scoreboard from time-to-time. If we continue the same crap game plan of the JLTs (get ball, close eyes, bomb it forward) the more we can create pressure up front to keep the ball i50, the more chance we will have at getting those crumbing goals.
