good to get away to a 3-0 start while not having played too well. reminds me a lot of 2011.

Hope you're right. It's statistically the best ever season by a Geelong team.

Great to be 3-0 but against North and Carlton we really only did just enough to get the points. We're well positioned but I feel as though it's better to come back and make an assessment midway through the season.

Our next 6 are Sydney, Bulldogs, Richmond, Essendon, Collingwood, and Port. I'd be quite satisified to break even and win 3 of those (which we should do), leaving us 6-3 after Round 9, anything else is a big bonus and would set us up massively for the rest of the season.

I'll be quite satisfied - ecstatic even - with a win tomorrow night. Reassess after that.

Looking to head over for this game - never been to Footy Park and want to check it once before it is gone!

Been a while since I used to haunt Footy Park (and it has changed since those days) but if you ever went to Waverley, well, Waverley reminded me of Footy Park.

Main difference being Footy Park wasn't as freaking cold and you'll either be surrounded by tarps (Port games) or rabid Crow fans (Adelaide)*









*All said with tongue planted firmly in cheek. Except about the tarps and the rabid Crow fans of course. Oh, and the cold.

Having reviewed our first 3 games I reckon we are just doing enough to win. Yes we have played 3 good teams but we won in patches and spurts - a bit like last season. I thought we might be a bit better than we are currently playing but maybe injuries and so many youngsters playing accounts for this situation.

The two standouts for me are Bundy and Motlop. Both seem to be playing better than ever and making excellent progress. Thank goodness for that.

Blicavs is showing he has potential but he is a way off getting a game when we have a full list to choose from.

Murdoch is getting game time but is not quite there yet. Smedts has shown what he can do - but also needs more game time before he can really hurt the opposition.

THunt has been good as well - so the youngsters are doing ok.

The usual best 22 experienced players are doing enough and each week it seems a different lot do a good job and help us get over the line. I would just like us to put together more spurts and patches than we are seeing presently.

The ruck situation and poor centre clearance rate is an issue IMO. Not much we can do about the rucks due to injuries - so that makes it harder to win centre clearances.West has been ok but is a better second ruckman.

We need to get more quick ball out of the centre bounces - and we will kick a lot more goals. 2-3 goals more from good centre clearances and we the wins we have had would have been more emphatic. Our percentage better.

The loss of Varcoe is a big blow. Injuries could yet seriously disrupt a very good season.

Rivers looks to be a good get - and so we HMac to get fit and at least nullify better ruck divisions in the game.

At some stage it seems we will get back Varcoe, Vardy, HMac and Menzel. Is it too much to ask that all 4 come back and play well by year's end ? Maybe. Ok I will take 3 of them - any 3 will do.

Question is can we keep winning without so much talent on the park so we finish top 4 ? Probably.
