Second Life

It's like a MMO version of the Sims.

So in a word: pointless.

I've heard there are people who spend hundreds of dollars on this game to "buy" things in it so that they can have their very own cafe, or a night club. And you can't even kill/murder people in this game, unless in a very specific role playing area where both parties agree.

I played it back in 2007. It's a MMORPG but there isn't any fighting in it. It's about making a "second" life. So kind of boring, unless you're really into it. There isn't any "game" or course to it to really, at least at the time anyway.

The fact it is legally free to download and play is about the only thing it really has going for it since I got bored with in after a couple of few hour sessions.

If you want a good free game go check out America's Army. Not a bad game that one :thumbsu:

Some people live their lives in SL and make money from it. Just a couple of months ago the Australian Arts Council even granted a virtual residency of $20,000 to three artists to create and interactive art installation in SL. They probably spent it on nachos and pr0n sites but hey, very cool anyway. :):thumbsu:

I bump on the understanding that Messenger says "Bumping old threads for no good reason is frowned upon all over BigFooty".

This was like the only meaningful Second Life thread I could find.

A documentary about Second Life is coming to Melbourne, called Life 2.0. (NB: that entry is 18+ as it's part of a film festival.)

I know very little about Second Life, but I'm curious enough to watch this.
