Apparently Ellard believes Carlton can nominate a second rookie to go with Jamison who can play in every home and away game. I'm guessing this is the case because we don't have any veterans on our list with Kouta retiring.

I'd go for Ellard because we need another goal kicker and our skill level is still pretty poor after seeing the hitout in SA.

But I'm tempted to vote for Jacobs just to keep Ackland honest or out of the side.

And this is Strawb's last year on our list and Sam really needs to show something this year after being picked at one the rookie draft. He didn't look half bad in the SA game, but he'd be exposed for pace and mobility at the highest level.

Who would you choose and why?

I reckon Ellard or Hill to give us some more forward options. By all reports Jacobs won't last till the end of the year. Surely the acquisition of Kreuzer spells the end of his opportunities considering Cloke, Hampson, Aisake and Ackland are already ahead of him.

Not sure if we can put a first year rookie up as a nominated rookie.

I think it had to be in with the primary list lodgement and rookie elevations.

Would be fantastic for him if we could though.:thumbsu:

Apparently Ellard believes

Care to expound on that, sounds awfully speculative to me.

Can anyone confirm whether or not this can still be done for season 2008?

This will then facilitate the influx of posters with 'sources close to the club/MC' assuring us who it will be

Seriously though, I am very interested in whether or not Ellard could actually be a nominated rookie.

It was mentioned in a post on the Talking Carlton forum by the supporter who interviewed Ellard and Pfeiffer for the Mike & Dan articles. :thumbsu:

I like the short clips I've seen of Joseph, but a year in the VFL won't hurt him. It sounds like Ellard is a goal-kicker so I'd go with him.

He's a real goer Joseph. Just needs to work on his kicking skills. Misses quite a few targets. Hopefully the Development Coaches can work on this throughout the year.

Hopefully the development coaches will be working with all the players who are seriously in trouble with their skills thanks to 4 years of crappy coaching

Talk about an unfair workload. Does Mrs Burrows know about this workplace cruelty?

Wasnt there a thread a while ago that worked out all the rules of the nominated rookie, or was that on CSC?

Basically the conclusion was I think that you could have up to 2 Veterans and Nominated Rookies, so a list of 38 players, up to 2 veterans or N Rookies and the rest as rookies up to 44 unless you were in Brissie or Sydney.

So if you dont have any vets you could have 6 rookies and nominate up to 2 of them to play with or without injuries to normal listed players.

You'd say with the way thing's have gone, Jamo and Ellard will be the nominated rookies. I'd imagine Jamo will be in the side for the majority of the year unless he drops in form or gets injured.

Ellard will probably have to work his way in at some point but you'd think that he'd be pushing sooner rather than later. Very impressive.

Does anyone know why Aaron Joseph hasn't been given a hit out yet? Didn't see him in SA.

AJ has had a few injuries according to training reports.
