Am I the only one that thinks Torney was stiff not to get the Showdown Medal.

no your not, torney was superb as was mattner, reilly and goodwin ... it really was a toss up in the end for the medal. for what ever reason torney seems to get labelled as an average player which i find bizarre.

as far as the second tier goes though, its nice to see the midfield play so well even when mcleod and/or ricciuto arent there.

He'd be much more relaxed tonight.

Week 1 goes to Melbourne to get used to the travel routine and as you say get the feeling about the pre-game and whats involved during the game.

Week 2 gets to be part of it with all the nerves ect

Week 3 IMO he would be relaxed, reflective and believing he could be a stronger contributor next week.I would and I think NC will leave him in the side.

Just a footnote - lets be realistic about this kid - he will be no superstar but could be a good player.[/QUOTE]

Not one of your better comments WW. After only one game how can you tell if he will or won't - be positive man.

I for one was very impressed with Hentschel up forward yesterday. Although he only kicked 1 himself, he dished off another 3. I thought he took another step up.

Mattner Reilly& Hudson all played their best games for the club. Well done boys.

Doughty played very well (I am still not convinced though).

VB did well in the minutes he was on.

Skipworth was disappointing.

Welcome back JT :)

Torney was magnificent yesterday. I've been a fan of his for a long time, and I can't believe some posters here don't have him in their best 22, and have even mentioned him as a delisting candidate

Must have been hard to chose the medallist with so many guys playing blinders, and even though I would have loved a "backbone" player like Mattner or Torney to win it, Roo was a worthy winner.

One of my pet peeves is youngsters getting a game and then getting dropped the following week even though they played well.

If VB gets dropped this week I will be VERY disappointed.

Thats a peeve of mine too Stiffy.
VB will take a bit more from that game if we retain him based on his efforts.

Look at Huddo  Rewarded for grit and determination and he hasnt played a bad game since he got a gig!

HUGE call mate. If he is as good as Stiffy, I would be stoked.

I see a harder version of Reilly written all over him.

Yep, it's a huge call, but I've seen a lot of juniors, Stiffy, and I'm sure this kid has got it.

If I'm wrong I'm sure WW will remind me. :D

He sure will :D

Ain't he loving the fact he can stir me about Mattner :D

Exactly - both ways good & bad ;)

Just my opinion but looking for that game winning trait of players we would consider better than just good players.
